Remembering his solace

-Writeing Cartoon OC's Be Like-

This is another one of my Rainbow Quest OC’s, Clover. I’ll explain her lore in just a moment, but I’d first like to say that I first created her in Tomodachi Life for the soul purpose of making sure Sabre wasn’t lonely while I made the other RQ characters. Her Mii was originally very low effort because of that, but I do plan on going back and fixing that later cause I got attached and now she’s important to me 😔.

—THE LORE—

(It’s not as crazy as Red’s, don’t worry.)

Clover is (again by definition) a Blue Steve.

I personally headcanon that each Blue Steve has their own unique ability that differentiates them from other Blue Steve’s, similar to how Orange Steve’s have unique personality traits that differentiate them. For instance, the now-Blue Leader has the ability to give energy to others souls. Like, if he came across a dying soul in the overworld, he could give them a small amount of his energy that would allow them enough strength to hold on long enough for him to get them better help. I like to think that this was why he was the one holding on to the Blue Crystal, because his ability showed his deep care for every soul he came across, truly exemplifying the kind of person all Blue’s try to be.

Clover’s unique ability is a deep connection to the souls of the land, meaning she can sense the souls of plants, animals, sometimes even insects! It’s admittedly not the greatest power, especially since Blue Steve’s spend a majority of their lives in the World Beyond, but she was determined to learn how to use it for those rare times she WOULD be in the overworld.

However, during one of her expeditions venturing into the overworld, she came across a dying sheep. The poor creature had become caught in a hunters trap. She knew she couldn’t rescue it, after all, the Steve’s needed food, and this was how they got that food during this time. Instead, she decided that she wouldn’t allow it to suffer any longer.

In an attempt to use her unique ability to help guide the sheep’s soul into the next life, she was suddenly startled by the hunters yelling, having spotted her near their food. It was enough of a distraction to disrupt the spell and cause a bit of an accident.

Clover could only remember everything going dark and then waking up in a cabin with a very worried Scout and Red. Having to jump through several hoops just to get in contact with another Blue Steve, Clover was eventually returned to the World Beyond where the eldest Blue examined her and determined that the disruption in her attempts to help the sheep caused its soul and hers to combine into one.

Great. Fantastic. Because being a half-sheep would make things any easier for her. Thank you so much, Origin, for bestowing this great blessing upon her.

After much time spent in recovery, she eventually made her way back out into the overworld and made the decision to stay there.

The canon timeline begins blah blah blah, she’s mentioned by Red and Orange maybe a handful of times but Sabre and a few other important characters never meet her until MUCH later.

She’s somewhat more involved during the Aftermath, but is even more present during and after Red’s banishment and return.

I mentioned in Red’s lore post that the dimension she was sent to and the RQ dimension were forcefully combined, and this is where Clover’s unique ability has its major drawback. I’ve started to call the dimension combining event the “convergence.” Remember this.

During the first shockwave of the two dimensions colliding within the multiverse, Clover hears this loud shrieking sound as if someone is being ripped in two. It pierced through her head and doesn’t let up for several minutes. This is where the connection to the “soul of the land” truly comes into play because Clover is literally sensing the soul of the very earth they stand on be torn apart and put back together as the universe tries to make sense of both worlds merging into one.

It eventually subsides once the worlds are completely merged, but she says it was by far the worst thing she’d ever experienced. Truly nothing could ever top it.

Clover my sweet sheep baby 🥹. She and Red are definitely besties.

The motifs on her corset are representative of people she cares about. She embroidered each of them on by hand and there are more than just what’s showing in this drawing. The wrench is for Red, the orange crystal is for… well, you guessed it, Crystal Orange. The blue crystal is for the now-Blue Leaser, and the chicken is OBVIOUSLY for Sabre, because who else would it be, huh?
