The world may be terrifying but tonight we're going to the theatre #42ndstreet #sheasbuffalo #welookgoodcleanedup (at Buffalo, New York)
Our first time back in The USA since Family Day Weekend, 2020. 🦬 Our primary reason for visiting is to come to @sheasbflo to see the touring production of @intothewoodsbroadway starring Tony award winners @stephaniejblock and @realgavincreel. 🌳 The show was amazing with an amazing cast, all performing at their highest levels. The audience was so receptive, energetic, and thoroughly entertained. 🌳 Before the show, we took some time enjoying some sites around Buffalo, and enjoyed a fantastic meal at one of our favourite restaurants in the area, @latoltecabuffalo. . It's been far too long since our last visit. . 🌵 #visitbuffaloniagara #sheasbuffalo #intothewoods (at Buffalo Theatre District) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co1TSCzNs2Z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Masked up and made our way back to my happy place tonight for the perfect reminder that nothing gives me the feels like live theater. Many happy tears were shed, and being able to mouth all the lyrics to “Let It Go” under my mask was an unexpected bonus. #frozen #sheasbuffalo #backwhereibelong (at Shea's Performing Arts Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTtLDPtL4T5z_gSe3E2pa3XNdMFvmdVErwC1hw0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Working with video walls at Shea’s!
Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Shea’s Performing Arts Center - 2/21/2019
After seeing the BPO perform many times at Kleinhan’s Music Hall, and not having seen a performance at Shea’s in nearly 8 years, it was refreshing to enjoy a show in combination of both the Orchestra and venue in an interesting twist of a performance. This performance was a combination of live music and film. Taking the brilliant score written by John Williams and performing it in sync with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (the first installment in the HP series), on a 40′ screen, was captivating. The acoustics of the of the venue are incredible already for the BPO, but the mic set up they used spaced throughout the orchestra (you can see some in the top picture), really made it sound like the music was part of the film. There were many times where you forgot that there was a a full piece orchestra performing right below the screen. Technical wise, there were some very minor blimps in the sound and lighting at the beginning of the performance. The mic the director was using to speak with the audience cut out halfway through his opening remarks, though thankfully he was able to project and took on the mishap with humor and stride. The lighting kept going in and out on the director as there seemed to be some discrepancies on when he was done speaking and ready to begin the performance, and other miscellaneous lights began to go on and off as if there was some mistakes happening at the board.  Nothing many people would notice, and thankfully nothing major that impacted the performance itself.
As far as the rest of “tech” goes, the rest of the evening went very smooth. There was a brief intermission and really nice closing remarks from the director. Overall, this experience was one of a kind and super enjoyable (especially having taken a night off of school work), and I look forward to hopefully seeing the next installment of the series “Coming Soon”! I recommend this to Harry Potter and music fans a like!
