Carson Mountain and Fort Windham Rocks Shenandoah National Park, Virginia 1.09 miles 164 ft. Elevation Gain
For my last hike of the day, I wanted to do something short. I found this little hike over a little mile long with some low elevation, perfect wrap up for the day. When leaving the parking lot at the trailhead, you stay on the AT going northbound for about a half mile until turning left to head towards the coolest rock formation! I wasn't expecting it to be so random, but you are able to climb up on them pretty easy via this little path that runs behind it. The crevasses in between the rocks go pretty deep which is scary but it would be really hard for a human to fit through them. The fog theme kept up too, it was thicker now on this hike over the other two hikes I went on this day. I have to say, even though this hike was only a mile long, it was my favorite one of the day. First day in Shenandoah was a foggy, wet, but fun one. So excited to be working and hiking around here the next two weeks!
