   river    is   unsure   of   what   to   think.   by   all   means    the   lapis   she   is   looking    at    is   an   absolute    tratior   to   the   diamond    authority.   but   she   is   not   entirely   sure   as   to   why.    while   she   was   around   during   the   first   era ,  she   did   not   fight   in   the   war.   very   few   lapis   lazulis   did ;   and   for   this   there    was   a   good   reason. 

 lapis   lazulis   were   too   high   in   value   to   be    on   battlefields   such   as   earth’s.  and    she   could   not   imagine    another    lazuli   willingly   being   there --   or    fighting    on   the    side   that    quite   clearly    lost    the   battle.   she    smiles ,  remembering    that   fact.   even   if   a   handful   of   rebels   survived ;   they   wouldn’t   be   alive   for   long.     it   was   intimidating   to   remember   that    people   had   so   willingly    betrayed   their   diamonds   for   this  --   even   if   it   was   their   strength    that   let    the   new   laws    flourish.
