Over the past few weeks we’ve talked a lot about relapses/slips. Here’s the deal, there’s a lot of different opinions and perspectives out there. Like so many other things in life and recovery, there’s no one right answer. You have to do what feels comfortable to you, and I get that. So regardless of which side of this “debate” you stand on, consider this: ➡️ Everyone’s recovery journey is different. ➡️ Recovery is not a linear process. ➡️ Criticizing how someone chooses to define their recovery is unhelpful (to everyone) ➡️ Most people relapse (at least once) before achieving long term sobriety. ➡️ Further stigmatizing or shaming folks in the recovery community can have some pretty damaging effects at the macro and micro level. Essentially, if you’re not going to be supportive and encouraging… maybe think twice about hitting “send” on that comment or private message¿? Those are just my thoughts though, I’d love to hear yours! Let’s stay respectful of each person’s journey, and feel free to share in the comments below!! • • Visit the blog!
