Anyways, so, Shatterbird being born in Dubai is something that made a Lot of her like. Click. Particularly with how she treats Sand given how Dubai is literally a place of wealth know for ultra-extravagent shows of class disparity in the middle of a fucking desert. With a woman who holds her entire identity on the amount of class she has and her placement/recognition. Like, no shit she isn't good a controlling sand and it feels like static to her, it might as well be a symbol of lower class to her. The wealthy and influential got to stay inside of glass and control it, those without any Didn't. The fact she got that with a Cauldron vial is hilarious too. How the hell do you get that lucky. I'm like 90% sure that the sand thing could be further improved via training and mental exercises she can't do because it would fuck up some subconscious stigma in her head.
Which makes her subscription to the Slaughterhouse 9 and her affection for Jack all the funnier, because they're literally murder hobos. Jack could probably sleep in a dumpster and have his entire life be revealed for the grifting lie it is and he'd go back to slashing like nothing happened. And she fell for him. She fell for the serial killer equivalent of a hipster who plays music in his van and says he's gonna tear down the system. She fell for a guy with like, NEGATIVE class. She's a girl who went to a preppy private school who fell for the first person to probably make her question her ideas about class since Jack Slash is the most unfair person to fight/plan against in worm and is Weirdly effective, despite not having Any class, and made her question some of her stigma while breaking her down in the S9 trials. Thats right, this fucked up murder pair is actually an example of a underclass, unprivleged guy making someone born into a place of wealth and influence question the importance of Class when they can do So much without it. . . Which is such a funny spin on that trope. Since. They're just piece of shit serial killers who are only applying this to the 'art' of mass murder, and nothing else. He probably just helped her think "Woah, actually, I can murder WITHOUT needing to make it a metaphor in relation to a Freudian psychological theory, and that can make it More painful since it's senseless!" And that's it. She thinks she's evolving past pre set ideas of class with Jack but all she's doing is changing very surface level stuff and tolerating things, while trying to find roles/positions of power to put herself into for her identity. Like being the 9's Herald. Anyways. Just some headcanons after reading the missing interlude for research on my last post.
What they DON'T tell you is Shatterbird's death via Vista was actually assisted sucide because Regent was accidentally performing the worst mental torture on her: Not really caring about her beauty routine and making her eat pizza for 6 days out of each week between other greasy fast food. She thought Maybe the pretty boy with the fucking royal motif would have SOME idea of class but 90% of what he did with her around was look at a screen while laying upside down on a couch and he clearly didnt even have a highschool education. She saw him barely take care of himself except ordering some half decent expensive clothes that barely even Went together, he only had to put on One product to have smooth skin while she started to have achne. He didnt even like, torture her or give her any specific attention to punish her. He literally just didn't care to Think of her even while taking over her body completely, and she heard him use some half ass chess metaphor that was hobbled together to describe it once when you can't even Steal Pieces in chess, and the pieces are color coded, why didnt he use a card game metaphor or something.

Humiliating when three weeks ago you were a serial killer who was on every front page and screen you didnt shatter, and you were the only one in your villain group who could actually cook if you dont count Bonesaw's easy bake oven of flesh. One time he didnt even know what toppings to get so he ordered anchovies, olives, and Chicken on the bastardized piece of Italian cooking, realized he didnt like it, and made her ask if she could have the rest while she wanted TO STITCH HIS THROAT WITH GLASS.
He didnt even put in any class to breaking her down, or sadism. He brought up torturing her as a Joke after she covered her ears, like something like that wasn't even something to be considered. Like one of her favorite activities of breaking people down was something to be discarded as not horrible, but Dumb by the person currently puppeting her after he had her Cover Her Ears when she has powers that relate to her Controlling Glass Through Sound. He put in a half assed effort even to hide his plan, and knowing didnt help her because it's STILL was so demeaning it pissed her off. A list of other shit that happened: One time he sneezed and realized nobody was around so he used her to say Bless You then thanked her. One time Imp cut her body a couple times just for being complicit in what happened to Grue and Regent had to ask her to calm down because she was 'pretty useful' and correctly picked up Shatterbird was more getting off at the anger over her crime more than she was pissed over the cuts. One time he made her play video games with him by just giving control of her hands back and kept beating her until she won a single round and then, after beating her one more time, said she really sucked and went back to playing online. He even added a dipshit line about "Finally Defeating The Might Shatterbird" that made her want to give him a kidneystone of glass. Anyways, that's all....

i have no idea about this and the worm wiki is useless: does shatterbird have an actual name??? like a lot of the slaughterhouse 9 has given names other than their codenames, like burnscar being named mimi or crawler being named ned (ignoring the obvious "bonesaw's name is riley grace davis") but like. does shatterbird have a canon name?
