Today I'm shooting in a studio filled with teams of creatives. At the opposite end of our warehouse is the photographer of this shot @davidpaulschmit He's shooting signage and we are shooting digital editorial content. // For several years, decades even, creating a monochromatic story was the trend. All white, all blue, all any one single color was the visual story and you can see why. This handmade pottery shot was all about shape because the color was consistent. // I've been enjoying this week tremendously. All things gold. We are on the hunt for some touches of gold today for our holiday story. A world of contrasts. Icy delicate blues in an overgrown dilapidated grey greenhouse. Cinder block and moss are textures against lime-stained glass walls that feel open and temporary. // This day was otherworldly. If only it could stand the test of time. Falling back into the field where it was once built, this vintage greenhouse would slowly disintegrate over the next few years with trees and shrubs taking root pushing through framed panels for the skies above. // Blue tones feel wintery, but actually this was shot in the fall when there seems to be a fair bit of warmth in our light. The spring transition crosses the same lighting pattern as the sun rises in the sky. It was so hot the day we shot this porch - I was replacing flowers as fast as I could go. I was watering them with chilled H2O from the kitchen. I ran back and forth taking cuttings to the arrangements because they just couldn’t stand the heat and would droop and sag in minutes. Even with the heat this porch had the best view of the river from two sides.
