Summary: Steven’s days lately are a series of reminders, mental notes taken of every blessing he’s been given. If he could bind them together in a scrapbook for his younger self, a promise of better days, he would.

The house is quiet, but not quite sleepy, when Steven slips in through the front door and nudges it shut until it clicks softly. His heart clenches fondly as he looks around the sunlit living room to see Rie asleep on the couch by the window, head pillowed in Annie’s lap and breathing deeply. A somewhat lighter sleeper, Annie had stirred when he’d come in, and she’s smiling sleepily at Steven now, agreeing with him via a glimmer in her eyes: Isn’t she perfect?

Steven beams. Yeah, she really is.

Annie looks down at Rie, hopelessly smitten, and when she looks back at Steven, her eyes catch on the fresh collection of love bites covering his neck. Her expression turns wicked, and that’s Steven’s cue to leave. He clears his throat reflexively and shuffles out of the room, grateful that he has a bedroom to escape to. She huffs as he leaves, and he knows he’s only postponed the teasing, but he can’t find it in himself to care when he walks into his room to find his boyfriends already wide awake and tangled up together under the sheets.

Yup! It’s part of a future series I’m working on, a sci-fi series.

There’s war with another planet at the same time there’s war between Earth and Mars, that was colonized years ago. Andrew and Shane are martians, or more like-- Shane is a martian, he was born in Mars, while Andrew and his family were brought there when he was a toddler.

Point with them is that Martians are treated like shit and seen as less, so they rebeal against Eartheans and it’s a fucking disaster. Shane and Andrew’s colony are of mechanics and scavengers, they live pretty awful and one of their only options is to joing the Starfighter Legion, a faction that tries Their Best to unite humans against this other planet/alien society they are fighting, they live in a spaceship colony near Jupiter and take young people from whatever planet and of whatever upbring to train them and fight.

One of them, like many other Martians, was experimented on and is different, he has abilities that aren’t human but also aren’t natural, and so the Starfighter Legion becomes their best chance at happines.

The oneshot is about the one who has been altered having a bad episode and the other telling him it’s time to escape Mars with their friends (TJ and Kate who is pregnant, YB and Kelsey, Devon, Evan and Gadiel) and joing the Legion.
