Review: Full disclosure: I met Mash a couple of years ago at the Fic Writersâ Retreat in Canada, and folks, sheâs a hoot. Â And so is this fic.
If you love classic Hollywood musicals, if you love to imagine Benedict and/or Martin singing, or even (be still my heart) dancing, this is one you have to check out. The basic idea is that a hapless actor is killed on set (not really a spoiler, as it takes place in the first chapter), Sherlock is brought in to investigate, and ends up taking over the actorâs part. Cue Sherlock putting on an American accent, learning choreography, and crooning love songs. John is the writer of the movie, and soon finds himself moving from irritation of his new lead actor to being inspired by him.
Thereâs a ripping case, Moriarty chewing the scenery, and a lovely, slow burn romance. But the absolute best thing about this fic is that Mash actually wrote a 50âs musical style song (a love song, of course), and put together a great fan vid of the âclipâ from the movie. Make sure that you click the YouTube link when you get to that point in the story.
The words that took my breath away: âThereâs dancing?â Holmes repeated softly.
