My wife and I love to go for walks and identify the trees we see. I took these photos on a walk in June 2023.

I have many generations of family roots in West Virginia dating back to Scottish fur traders and local indigenous tribes. She’s much more free-spirited than I am and she has lived in many interesting and even international places.

One of my favorite birds is the red-winged blackbird. We lived for three years in a farmhouse beside a beautiful shagbark hickory tree.

I would have the bird to represent her and she would have the tree to represent me.

(I know these are male bird’s markings; they’re just prettier)
