“Do you really think Buffy would recognize you like you are now? I mean, Joan doesn’t.”

It’s something Shae’s been giving a lot of consideration to over the past week. The older Summers had gone out of town for the weekend, having been needed to personally escort another junior slayer into town or something, and she’d left the girls with free reign of the house. Honestly, Shae hated it. She could admit that she was a selfish person and that she was finally happy with where she was. Joan was her best friend and Buffy had been more of a mother to her in the past few months than her own mother had been most of her life; she didn’t want to share them.

All the same, the blonde’s absence had allowed her to keep the vampire close. No more sneaking him in and out of her window and when she went to sleep at night, it was in his arms, and that was certainly something she could get used to. At first the sneaking around had been fun, the thrill of getting caught adding just a little extra something, but as time went on, as she got more comfortable in their relationship, she got tired of hiding. She was tired of sneaking over to his place, lying about where she was, suffering the disapproving looks from Buffy. She knew the woman had an idea of what she was doing and Shae thought she might actually be more hurt that the younger slayer didn’t trust her enough to share than anything.
