Sega is auctioning off the custom Dark Rider motorcycle used to promote Shadow the Hedgehog, with all proceeds from the sale going to a meaningful charity. The unique vehicle, which became a recognizable part of the marketing campaign for the character's recent silver screen debut, will be sold to the highest bidder to support the Luca Guintoli Foundation. The motorcycle was commissioned by Sega as part of the 2024 Fearless: Year of Shadow campaign. It appeared at various promotional events, including Gamescom, to build excitement for the character's role in the blockbuster Sonic the Hedgehog 3. While the bike features the antihero's signature red and black color scheme and iconic branding, it is a custom build created by Bourget's Bike Works in collaboration with Sega, Oil Sweat and Gears, and Atmospherics SFX. This auction represents a rare opportunity for fans and collectors to own a piece of video game and film history. According to the auction house Bonhams, this is believed to be the first time a piece of memorabilia directly from Sega has been offered for public auction. Prospective bidders should note that while the bike is equipped with a 1,750cc S&S Super Stock engine and a six-speed gearbox, it is currently a non-operable display piece with a foam dummy fuel tank.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Luca Guintoli Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by French World Superbike Champion Sylvain Guintoli. The foundation was created in memory of his late son, Luca, and provides financial assistance, education, and practical support to children with autism or cancer in England and Wales. Sega gifted the motorcycle to the foundation following its promotional tour. This initiative highlights the ongoing partnership between the foundation and the gaming company. Sylvain Guintoli previously collaborated with the brand in April 2026, when he set a world record for running the London Marathon while wearing motorcycle leathers adorned with Sonic imagery. The upcoming auction is scheduled for October 10-11, 2026, as part of The Autumn Stafford Sale.
