Punk Reki and Punk Shadow working on crafts together, yea that's my only thought rn
oka is so lucky...
Shadow from Sk8 headcanons i have
They will probably change overtime because I'm still in s1.
1- He actually adores Reki, he even appreciated him before their beef.
2- Loves going anywhere with Miya because he dreams of being a father and teaching his kids to skate.
3- He hides his skater Identity to her boss, but if she knew her love for him would grow bigger because he'd be able to see both sides of him.
4- Before Reki, Langa and Miya create their friendship group with him he was feeling lonely and he only had skating.
5- He has plants and flowers at work that remind him of everyone of their friends and sometimes creates buckets with all of them to take home for himself.
6- Even if both the other adults in the group earn a lot more money he wouldn't change his job as a florist for anything in the world because he loves the clients and being in touch with nature taking care of plants.
7- He loves to sing songs of his favourite rock bands to plants. Once her boss found out and pretended not to notice because she knew this would make him uncomfortable, but this made her think he's super cute.
8- He suffers from discalculia and it makes him uncomfortable whenever he has to charge clients at the flower's shop. He doesn't want his boss to know he has trouble with numbers.
Can you do the ‘How would the character celebrate Valentine’s Day with their partner?’ for Shadow?
C
Of course I can, my dear! Thank you so, so much for the request and for indulging me with one of my favourite characters 😊 I hope you’ll enjoy my thoughts here!
I personally definitely see Shadow as being a romantic at heart. While he’s all about manliness in front of the other guys and he wants to be a strong man for his partner, he’s definitely the type who gets sappy and lovestruck over his romantic partners. He loves the idea of being in a relationship, he loves doing the cutesy couple things, and he is someone, to me, who gets excited about things like Valentine’s Day. If he has a romantic partner around that time, he wants to celebrate Valentine’s Day properly with them and he wants to make the day so special for them. He gets really excited about it and he starts planning in advance for the day. He’s not leaving anything to the last minute – he wants the day to be perfect for his partner.
Shadow doesn’t just give his partner one present on Valentine’s Day. He wants to spoil them and show them how much they mean to him, so he wants to give them several gifts or little treats. He pays for everything that day but he definitely surprises them right off with their first gift/treat of the day, which, of course, is flowers. They’re not just any flowers though. This is the most magnificent bouquet that Shadow has ever made. And he definitely did make it. He spent so much time crafting this bouquet for his partner. He studied up again on the language of flowers, picking certain blooms that had to be in the bouquet because they symbolize something about his partner or his relationship with them. Once he had those in mind, he carefully considers colour theory and flower arranging theory. It takes him probably a good five to seven days to even iron out the concept of the bouquet before he makes it, getting up extra early to craft it fresh for his partner before he heads over to their place.
I do think, based on word of god with SK8, that Shadow takes his partner on a Valentine’s Day date to a botanical garden. He searches for the best, most beautiful, most grandiose gardens within travelling distance of them. If the garden is a bit of a trip away, Shadow will turn the Valentine’s Day date into a getaway, even if it’s only a single night’s stay. In this case, they’d take an early train or Shadow would drive them to the destination and he’d have made a point of booking the best inn or hotel, something romantic and quaint, that he could afford for them.
When they’re actually at the botanical garden, Shadow definitely wants to show off for his partner. He has a lot of botanical knowledge and he’s definitely doing everything he can to show off for his partner.
Of course, he’s paying for snacks or a lunch for his partner whenever they want one. When it comes time for the two of them to have supper, he’s made restaurant reservations at, again, the fanciest, most romantic place he can afford. He’s saved up for at least a good month to afford this Valentine’s Day date, that’s how much it matters to him. He’d definitely be the kind of guy who would hand-feed his partner a bite from his dish or dessert, acting cutesy with them, and it would actually melt his heart to do so. It’s at supper that he’ll give them their second actual gift (though the meals and little things he’s gotten them through the day become additional little ‘treats’). He’d likely get his partner jewelry, something really pretty and delicate, maybe with a floral motif.
If he and his partner had stayed in the city and hadn’t gone on a night-long trip, I do think that Shadow keeps the date going long into the night. I can definitely imagine him wanting to keep showing off for his partner so he has them help him with his makeup and outfit for S before whisking the both of them away to S’s location. He wants them to see him compete that night, making a big deal about how he’s going to win for them, how he’ll do the best he ever has with their sweet voice cheering him on. He definitely shows off and skates the hardest he ever has that night, but not before making a very public, very loud declaration of how he’s unbeatable because he has his beloved partner there.

Let’s talk about SK8,
Can you tell us who is your favorite character, your least liked and the one you connect with the most and why?
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this request! I love getting to ramble about my fandoms and since I haven’t really gotten many SK8 asks, I loved seeing this one. Because I don’t have a lot of requests for the fandom though, I hope you don’t mind that I’m coopting this one to serve as part of the queue!! Thanks again and I hope you’ll find my thoughts interesting 😊
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but my favourites in SK8 are the characters I connect with most, who I’ll talk about further down, and also very much Shadow. Shadow is not only my favourite of the SK8 boys visually and the one I self-ship with, but I sincerely love him as a character and find him really interesting. Moreso than the others, where their duality is subtly explored, the duality in a person is front and center when it comes to Shadow. It’s starkly highlighted in so much of his role in the story. We first get introduced to him as this ‘punk rock Kiss-style clown’ visually, someone very brash and loud, someone who isn’t afraid to compete hard and play a little dirty to win. He’s strong, confident, in your face, rowdy and sometimes reckless. That is who ‘Shadow’ is. But Shadow isn’t just Shadow. He’s also Hiromi Higa. And Hiromi is a mild-mannered, polite, kind, and somewhat romantic soul who works in a flower shop and who likes cute and pretty things. There’s such a stark contrast between these two identities of his but at the same time, both can and do exist within him. They’re not two separate people. Shadow isn’t simply an act he puts on, at least that’s not the vibe you get from the story. Both sides that he shows – Shadow and Hiromi, are both who he is in pretty equal measures. They both exist equally and simultaneously and I find the duality there really fascinating and I love how it makes Shadow into such a complex character.
While I don’t think there’s a SK8 boy that I really dislike or hate, I would have to say my least favourite is Snake. It’s not because he’s a bad character, by any means, because he has so much promise. I say promise here because the reason Snake is my least favourite is because I really don’t think SK8 explored or used him as well as they did with their other characters. While SK8 really did focus a lot on the relationships between the characters and let those develop the characters further, so I do understand the fact that Snake’s real major character moments were in regard to Adam, SK8 also allowed the other characters to have personalities and interests outside of just their relationships with the characters. I didn’t feel this near as much with Snake. Snake had no real strong personality. He was forgettable outside of his relationship with Adam and didn’t really seem to have much of a personality. He was there to fulfil a role within Adam’s story and that really seemed to be the entire crux of his character, which was a little disappointing to me.
Now, when it comes down to the characters I connected the most with, it’s a two-way tie here. Those characters are definitely Reki and Adam. Reki is such an interesting character and the story really did him justice, allowing him to grow and breathe as a character. Through Reki, the story explores some really neat ideas. There’s strong themes of self-doubt, accepting your own limitations, and a bit of imposter syndrome within Reki’s story and I deeply connected with those themes. They’re such relatable themes to me because they’re all things I have struggled with myself. I legitimately cried in scenes my first watch through because of how hard some of Reki’s story and character growth resonated with me. Adam, on the other hand, is an abuse survivor who didn’t grow up to be the ‘right kind of abuse survivor.’ His abuse didn’t make him into the kind of person that people feel sympathy for because of his abuse. And god, do I feel that in my bones. Adam drives himself hard to be perfect, to be the right kind of person for his family, and he does put a lot of pressure on himself. He’s overwhelmed by the pressure but won’t admit it, and he beats that pressure by skateboarding. Legit, it’s the only coping mechanism he seems to have. Is it any surprise, between that and the utter loneliness we see within Adam’s character, where he simply feels like no one else can stand with him or be at his level, that he acts the way he does? I really do fuck with the complex nature of Adam’s character and the strong themes of loneliness and abuse survival that show up in his story.
why does the sk8 fandom ignore shadow so much it makes me sad. hes fun and i like him
