OFFICIAL Shadow and Tails refs for my fanfic "Finding the Pieces of You"!!

◈  Shadow’s redesign is revised is intended to highlight their Alien DNA and how they were designed to bring hope to Maria & Humanity.

◈  Shadow is a creation of Nightshade, Sonic Thunderstorm’s iteration of Black Doom. For this AU, the Black Arms are a form of Wisp namely Shade Wisps. Having the blood of Nightshade grants Shadow every single Color Power by birthright with several paralleling the Doom Powers in Sonic X Shadow Generations. 

◈  Shadow's streaks are reinterpreted as varicolored shooting stars to illustrate the hope they bring and merges it with the colors of the Wisps. The colors themselves are darkened to pair with the Shade Wisp theming along with minimizing eye strain.

◈ ◈ ◈  Shadow's quills & back markings were also revised resemble a shooting star further emphasizing how Shadow was created to bring hope both to Maria & Humanity. Additionally, Shadow's silhouette has been made clearer from the side by reducing the quill clusters to 5.

◈ ◈ ◈  The fur tufts on Shadow's face are designed to resemble a mouth to allude to their underlying Frenzy Wisp Power. Shadow's eyes have also been altered to have Heterochromia giving them mild parallels to Commander Abraham Towers, with crimson and violet iris paired with golden sclera used to grant Shadow a threatening and demonic aura alluding to their fearsome power.

◈ ◈ ◈  Lastly, Shadow's chest fur was reimagined to be Wispier and reminiscent of Cloud Nebula paired with an iridescent sheen and sparkle.

◈ Shadow was once intended to be a Brandt's Hedgehog as they also have black quills & fur however the updated redesign has been switched to a Tenrec. Chosen as in the english version of Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic claims Shadow is a “fake hedgehog” which happens to be the nickname given to tenrecs with Lowland Streaked Tenrecs in particular already having stripes. This will also further Shadow’s identity issues particularly in the Shadow ‘05 chapter as Shadow is not initially aware they aren’t a Hedgehog.

◈  Shadow was also modified to visibly have dwarfism since Shadow has canonically been described as short.

◈  Additionally, Shadow's apparel has been redesigned. Their gloves were tweaked to be similar to Fingerless Motorcycle Gloves and their Air Shoes altered to have better segmentation of its colors.

◈ ◈ ◈  Meanwhile, Shadow's Inhibitor Rings have been reimagined to resemble Lava Lamps to illustrate how they now restrain both Chaos and Hyper Energy with Absence Energy.

◈ ◈ ◈  As a side note, Shadow's Air Shoes are used to easily channel their Hover Wisp power for speed as well as levitation and the Ghost Wisp now allows for shapeshifting into organic creatures which will be used for Shadow framing Sonic in the Sonic Adventure 2 Chapter.
