are you like shadow banned or smth. I follow you but never see your posts on my dash ever even though you post everyday
Tumblr claims they don't shadowban ppl but anecdotal evidence seems to imply otherwise. The only other thing I could think of is if maybe you're following a lot of ppl? I think part is also what you interact with. There are a couple people I follow who I never see on my dash and only see them on the "following" specific dash, while others I follow and see plenty on my main dash

Anybody speaking out about Palestine has been getting shadow-banned. Itâs happening on every platform. I donât see as many posts educating + showing support to Palestine unless itâs a huge celebrity or organization. But itâs not just celebs itâs happening to content creators all over the world and just everybody else whoâs supporting Palestine. We are all purposefully being hidden. Itâs extremely fâd up how people are literally being silenced for speaking the truth. Ridiculous. But Iâm not shutting the hell up anytime soon so respectfullyđđż
But as of recently, Israel ordered an air strike on a hospital that killed hundreds of people. We are witnessing in real time the genocide of the people of Gaza and the media is trying to spin the narrative. Mind you, this is all being funded by our taxes. Yep, you heard that right. Our U.S. tax dollar is helping with the literal ethnic cleansing of Gaza. đ
Democratic senator concerned after company is accused of âshadow-banningâ non-profits offering medication abortion
Mark Zuckerberg isn't just kissing Trump's ass, he's asking The Donald which shade of lipstick he should use when doing so.
Apparently Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, etc.) is throttling information on abortion.
Senator Ruben Gallego has accused social media giant Meta of âpresumptively bowingâ to the Trump administration by making abortion-related content more difficult to find.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, was accused of âshadow-banningâ several non-profits who provide medication abortion to women in the US.
âI am deeply concerned at the chilling effect that suppressing content related to abortion has towards women,â Gallego wrote in a letter sent to the company on Friday. âWomen around the country rely on medicated abortion as safe and effective way to address deeply personal health decisions.â
A dozen states across the south-east and midwest ban abortion. Four states ban the procedure past six weeks of gestation, before most women know they are pregnant.
Non-profits, such as Aid Access, have responded by providing medication abortion to women in all 50 states using âshield lawsâ â protections passed by states friendly to reproductive rights that prevent healthcare providers from legal consequences in abortion-ban states.
In Gallegoâs letter, the senator describes how Aid Access had posts removed from Facebook and blurred on Instagram. The organization was also locked out of Facebook and briefly suspended from Instagram.
By using Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and other Meta platforms, you are supporting an affiliate of the MAGA propaganda machine. Zuck has gotten increasingly brazen in his support for Trump. It goes beyond the usual token kowtowing. He is an enthusiastic member of the MAGA Broligarchy.
Though there's a two letter difference between MAGA and META, the similarities are actually much closer than that.
I had no idea about Tumblrâs shadowban until it happened to me. Since then, surprisingly quite a few number of people have texted me about them getting shadowbanned as well. Now that Iâm aware of it, I realize itâs becoming increasingly common for legit blogs like mine to get shadowbanned for no reason at all. So hope this helps everyone who has to unnecessarily go through this.
What does shadowban exactly mean?
Basically, your blog exists and mostly functions as it normally would, but Tumblr has made it invisible to everyone else. Tumblr lets you believe that everything is fine and that you can interact with others, but actually you canât. (Look at the wikipedia definition here.)
Why does this happen?
From what I understand, blogs get shadowbanned since they are suspected of being bots, or just sketchy, or they might be going against Tumblrâs guidelines. Iâm not sure, but it might also happen if someone has reported your blog.Â
But more often than not, itâs just a tumblr glitch.Â
How to tell if your blog has been shadowbanned? And most of the things that happen during this state.
(These are the things that I personally went through. It might not be the same for everyone. Also, my main blog (@that-damn-girl) was shadowbanned. My side-blogs were fine. So in case your main blog is fine but your side blog is shadowbanned, you might have a different experience.)
(P.S. remember that commenting on a post and sending an ask are features reserved for the main blog only.)
The âMessagesâ section disappears.Â
My main blog had no âMessagesâ section, but my side-blogs did.
Naturally, you wonât be able to text others.Â
NOTE: Others will be able to text you, and from their end Tumblr will show that the message has been sent and all is fine. But you wonât receive/see any messages.
Others wonât receive your asks.
Youâll be able to send asks to others, and Tumblr would even give you a âAsk has been sentâ notification if your post notifications are turned on. But since Tumblrâs made you invisible, whomever you sent it to wonât receive your ask.Â
NOTE: Youâll be able to receive asks. But when you answer it (assuming the ask wasnât anon) the blog which sent it to you most probably wonât get a notification that you have answered their ask. It might not be visible to them even if they scroll though your blog.
Others wonât receive notifications from your blog.Â
Youâll be able to like/reblog a post as you normally do, but the original poster wonât receive a notification.Â
Thereâs no evidence of you interacting with a post.
If you simply like/reblog a post with 0 notes, the number of notes will change to â1 noteâ. But if you open the notes section, it wouldnât show you your name or if youâve reblogged/liked it.
Canât reply/comment on any post.
You can type a comment, but when you hit enter there would be no effect.
Canât tag anyone.
Even if you can, they wouldnât get a notification.
NOTE: Others wonât be able to tag you either. But again, even if they can, you wouldnât get a notification.
Your blog wonât be visible in searches (assuming your blog wasnât hidden from search engines and tumblr searches beforehand)
Your original posts arenât visible in searches.
Quite possibly, your original posts wonât be visible to your followers either (whether on their dashboard or if they decide to scroll through your blog.)
[Reblogged posts]
If you simply reblog a post without any comments (i.e. without gifs or tags or texts, basically any input from your side), they are visible (i.e. your followers can see it on their dashboard). But if you reblog a post with your personal comments, it doesnât show up in your followerâs dashboard or in the notes section of the post.
NOTE: The posts you had queued up/scheduled before your blog was shadowbanned will be visible to your followers, even if there were any gifs/ personal comments added from your side.
What can you do to un-shadowban your blog?
Well, there isnât much that you can do except sending a ticket to the Support here. Tell them about all the trouble youâve been facing and why you think your blog might be shadowbanned. Try to keep it precise and relevant.Â
P.S. try to be polite/formal. After all theyâre simply employees trying to make an earning for themselves. Itâs not like they intentionally shadowbanned you.
How long will it take for your blog to get un-shadowbanned after youâve contacted Support?
In my case, it took them 5 days to respond to my first ticket (I had panicked and sent them 3 tickets in the first 3 days. I donât recommend bombarding them with tickets like I did). They said that it was a glitch on their side and apologized. My blog was back to normal instantly.Â
When I talked to others who were shadowbanned too, I found out that this response time varied greatly. For some, it was only a matter of hours before their blog was normal. For some, it took over a month. (I recommend sending the support a second ticket after an interval of 2-3 days if your blog isnât back to normal.)
~~~
Wow, it got a little longer than I had expected. But hope it helps!Â
i am really concerned at the state of free media right now.
i have been following accounts on instagram that talk about climate change, sexism, classism, industrial pollution, and politics in india. but my fyp is not showing ANY of that content. like, it's straight-up shadow-banning all the accounts that talk about those topics. it's only the videos that use censored versions of those terms that are showing up. i am searching up the above-mentioned terms repeatedly, yet i do not get those in my feed.
instead, my feed is filled with harry potter, corporate reels (specifically duolingo, webtoon, kfc, captain crunch, etc.), and speeches in which politicians are praised. it is so jarring to see those things when i barely ever like them. this is so frustrating.
Jesus Christ Iâm so fucking sick of YouTube randomly shadow-banning my comments because I say naughty words like âmurderâ or âasshole.â I literally just saw a comment disappear after I wrote it because I used the word âdeath.â
I know other people donât get subjected to this so my account must be flagged or something. Itâs driving me crazy, I have to censor every comment I write.
