Hey! Hope youre doing oke :3 Just wanted to request some Odyssey Kayn x reader hcs, like when he eventually ascends to emperor or something. Anything you want, really. I love that skinline so much it's criminal that there's almost no content of him :(
Hello anon!! Im doing well thanks for asking and i hope you are doing okay too! I dont read skinlines much other than heartsteel but i tried to write odyssey as cannon as possible. Im not very into the lore so it might be out of cannon but i tried π
And so sorry for the delay i kinda got carried away while writing the battlefield scene π hope this cures your lack of odyssey kayn for a while π€

Odyssey Kayn when he ascends
(to godhood or smth theres literally no lore in wiki)
I see Odyssey Kayn much more insane than normal Kayn. He is still a soldier to an empire called Demaxian in this skinline so i dont think he got a mentor like Zed to teach how to calm his mind.
And it means he is much liable to surrender to Rhaast. But it goes the other way around too. Let me not keep you waiting long:
He was the commander to a losing war at the other side of the universe. Worn out, angry and most importantly, defeated. His pride took over him and he underastimated his enemy. Now, he was facing the consequences.
Rhaast's voice had been relentless for days. "Let me out. You're breaking. You can't win without me. I am the victory you've been seeking, boy." The voice in his head was strong than ever in this bloody battlefield.
And now, here in the heart of the chaos, Kayn felt his grip slipping. The scythe pulsed like a second heartbeat, black-red circuitry crawling up his arm, burning through his veins. Every strike he made bled with Rhaast's fury, and every kill fed it. His own thoughts were starting to distort, his voice sounding less like his own, more like... his. The darkins.
He staggered mid swing, gasping. "Just... shut up-" But the weapon wasn't asking to be used anymore. It was taking it from his body. Kayn's legs locked, his fingers clenched around the hilt until he could feel his bones grind. He see the world tint in red. He could feel his teeth pulling into a grin that wasn't his.
Rhaast surged. "I warned you. This galaxy doesn't need Kayn. It needs me as its emperor!" Kayn could feel his fingers moving out of his control. Breathing was harder than he could ever imagine.
Then a shadow moved between him and his prey. His lover. The one and only person he started this war for.
They weren't holding a weapon. They weren't even standing in a defensive stance. Just... standing there, chest heaving, eyes locked on him like they were staring straight through all the layers of rage.
"Get out of the way-" Kayn's voice broke, the words coming out like a static growl. He didnt meant it to come out as threatening as it sounded. They stepped closer, slowly, like approaching a wounded animal. "I'm not here to fight, Kayn. I'm here for you."
That word you landed harder than any blade. For a heartbeat, Kayn faltered. Rhaast roared in his head. "What a weakness. I will cut them down-" Kayn knew Rhaast was not talking about their enemies anymore.
But their voice cut through the noise, sharp and warm. "You are not him. And you are not losing yourself now. Not after everything. Not after-" Their hand closed over his, the one clutching the scythe, ignoring the scorching heat of its dark energy. "-not after you gave me a reason to fight."
The red static fractured for a brief second. Kayn could feel it. A window of clarity.
He shoved. Not the scythe, not them, but inward. He dragged Rhaast into the psychic core of the weapon, a void lit by their clashing wills. The darkin's form towered over him, all fangs and bloodlust, but Kayn wasn't fighting to prove anything anymore. Their hand on his cursed one was a constant anchor to fight the darkin.
With one final push, Kayn forced Rhaast's essence into a containment loop. A prison of his own design. The darkins roar glitched into silence. The scythe's crimson glow shattered, reforming into a piercing blue-white while taking the infection Rhaast caused on his body with it.
Outside, it was like watching a dying star erupt into something new. The red aura vanished, replaced by an energy that was sharp, clean, and... alive. Kayn collapsed to one knee, the scythe humming quietly in his grasp, its lines no longer jagged but flowing like liquid starlight.
They were already there, hands on his shoulders. He looked up, smirking faintly despite the tremor in his breath. "Told you I had him."
Their eyes narrowed, voice shaking, equal parts fury and relief. "You scared the hell out of me! You could have died!"
"Yeah," Kayn said, standing with their help, the new light of his weapon reflecting in his eyes. "But then who'd keep you out of trouble?" They didn't answer, just pulled him into a rough, grounding embrace. For the first time in years, the silence in his mind was his own.
The repairs on the ship took a week. Enough time for the adrenaline to fade, for bruises to yellow, for the galaxy to stop feeling like it was tilting. The war was over with a ceasefire.
They found Kayn in the same place they always did, perched on the back railing of the observation deck, feet dangling into open space like he wasn't a heartbeat away from vacuum. The stars rolled slow and lazy beyond him, the reflection of nebula light catching in the newly white-blue lines of his weapon, propped against the rail at his side.
He glanced over when they stepped in. No grin, no taunt. Just that quiet, assessing look he rarely showed anyone. "You keep sneaking up on me." "You keep sitting on ledges," they replied, leaning against the rail beside him.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. And yet, the air was different. The tension that had always lived in his posture, that restless, twitching energy like he was always fighting something no one else could see... it was gone. He was... still. Not calm, exactly, but centered.
"You're quieter." they said at last. Kayn smirked faintly. "Don't get used to it." But there was no bite in the words, just a warmth he didn't bother hiding anymore. "You're different," they continued. "Not in a bad way. But... different."
He tilted his head, considering. "Guess it's hard to go back to being the same after nearly losing yourself." Then, after a beat: "But some things aren't gonna change." He nudged their shoulder with his. "I'm still the better shot. I'm still gonna win every argument. And I'm still going to piss you off at least once a day."
They laughed that, at least, some things hadn't changed. "I didnt agreed on the better shot part but now? I might have to surrender." They said while lightly tucking his now long, blue-purple hair behind his ear.
What had changed was the way he looked at them after. There was no edge of fear now, no flicker of doubt in his eyes, like he was silently asking if they'd still be there tomorrow. He knew. He was sure. And that certainty softened him in ways words couldn't touch. But also toughened him in ways that he would do anything for them.
