Israel shuts down major transportation means on Saturdays (October 7th landed on a Saturday). This means planes are grounded, airports are closed, stores and post offices are closed, farmers rest at home and not even the military is permitted to fire guns or rockets - so no military drills on Saturday!

The only people who drive and do work are mainly non-religious citizens and non-Jews (Arabs included). The only city that doesn't sleep is Tel Aviv.
