it was midnight, and you just started valentines day all alone.
rin hadn't spoken to you since your argument 2 days ago, but you thought he'd atleast make an effort for valentines day. after all, it's your 3rd one together.
right now, you were regretting the argument more than anything. it was so stupid. you were upset because he skipped a hangout for practice. to him, you were being ridiculous but to you, he was showing what his priorities were and you weren't that high up on the list because he always put you after everything he did.
rin never seemed to realize that it really did hurt you, because all you ever did was put him first.
you felt your phone buzz beside you, giving you a flicker of hope in your heart but unfortunately for you, it was just your friend wishing you a happy valentines day and that made you cry even more.
you didn't know when you fell asleep, but when you woke up, you noticed your bedroom door cracked open ever so slightly.
'is rin here?' you thought to yourself, feeling another glimmer of hope. but remembering how it felt last night when it wasn't him, it quickly faded. you didn't want to get yourself all excited just to feel heartbroken again.
rubbing the sleep away from your eyes, you threw your blankets to the side, swinging your legs out onto the cold floor. upon opening the door, you saw your living room covered in pinks whites and purples, and a black tuft of hair peeking out from above the couch.
wait, rin really came? even after not talking to you for days? you walked up to the couch, facing him.
"rin?" it was barely a whisper, but he still twitched awake. he uncrossed his arms, standing and placing a hand on your face.
"I'm sorry. I fucked up really bad I know, and I didn't want to face it, but I can't leave you alone on valentines day." rin looked at you with the prettiest, glossy eyes.
"rin, you always put everything above me. sometimes I feel like I'm just around for when you're bored or pent up, because that's the only time we talk. it feels like you don't care about me as much as I care about you, and I don't know if you know but it fucking sucks to feel like this." you placed your hand on his, slowly moving it off your face. you didn't want to cry infront of him, but you felt the tears pricking at your eyes either way because every word of what you just said came from your heart.
"there's not been a second these past days where I haven't thought about you, and I'm regretting all the times I canceled on you, or replied late to a text, or left a date early, and everything else I've done," you heard his voice wavering, his eyes focused on you like you'd leave if he looked away,
"I know I messed up really fucking bad these past 2 years, but I'm willing to fix it baby, I know I made mistakes and I probably still will, but I'm willing to try for you, because I love you." the tears were rolling down his cheeks now, his eyelashes clumping together from being wet.
"but how do I know you'll actually do it this time rin?" it was your turn for your voice to crack now. fuck valentines day was supposed to be sweet when you had a boyfriend, not started off crying your eyes out.
"I know nothing I say right now can convince you, but I can show you I'll change if you give me a chance, please." he cupped your cheek with one hand, his other hand on your waist.
you looked into eachother's eyes for a few seconds, your hands reaching up to the back of rin's head to pull him down, his lips crashing onto yours. his hands immediately pulled you closer, missing your touch.
"so I guess I'm forgiven?" his head was resting on your shoulder now, but you could tell he was smiling.
"I guess you are, I love you rinnie." you played with the hair on the back of his head, missing his scent.
"well since I'm forgiven, I have something for you." he pulled away, heading for your front door.
upon his return, rin held a pink gift bag in his hand, and a cheesecake in the other.
"happy valentine's day baby, I know it didn't have the best start, but I want nothing more than to spend the rest of it with you." he placed the cake down onto the table, bringing the bag closer to you.
in the gift bag was a small black box, holding a pair of diamond earrings inside.
"these are so cute rin! I love them so much, thank you." you pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.
while you and rin obviously didn't have a perfect relationship, you were both willing to compromise on your differences, because to you both, your relationship was worth fighting for.
