I love George Seurat's monkey artwork so much, because it really makes me think about why he must have liked them so much. I feel like he felt like he could connect better with the monkeys more so than humans sometimes. I feel similarly to this with Company when Bobby offers to take his married friends' children to the zoo. I feel like they were both heavily aware that human life and society are not far off from being kept in a zoo where standardized control is harmfully practiced. Spending time at the zoo may have made them feel more at home than actual human-connection ever could.
