Wow maybe I shouldn't arbitrarily put things off for years.
Probably should have joined the Discord for https://www.youtube.com/@LuigIO/ years ago, but for various reasons I waited and now the invite link is expired. Learning to run and mess with NES emulators seems like a bit much when I only want to do the machine learning stuff, but after seeing Sethbling's Mari/o I've been thinking it'd be neat to have a variant that uses L-systems to grow the trees of neurons in a fractal pattern with the rewriting rules as the genes in the genetic algorithm. Also maybe having a way for neurons to output to a buffer area that other neurons can read during the next cycle so they can develop memory more easily. Thinking those together might reduce the need to clear it out between levels.
