I haven't seen anyone on Tumblr talking about the SESAC removals yet and they're ruining my life. Fuck SESAC, all my homies hate SESAC
How many of you people are having songs blocked/banned by SESAC in the US? Is this just on YouTube or in different places too? 😭😭😭

The reason why is that google (who owns youtube) is fighting with SESAC over music licensing, and any video containing SESAC songs is subject to ban in the USA as of late September 2024.
Who is SESAC?
SESAC stands for the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers, which has been around since 1930 and, according to its website, “...currently licenses the public performance of more than 1.5 million songs on behalf of its 15,000+ affiliated songwriters, composers, and music publishers.”
So basically, google is in a pissing contest with a european music licensing organization and that music is unavailable via google-hosted services until that gets resolved. If it ever does.
Reason 786215547 why reliance on streaming music is bad, and why you should consider physical media and/or building up your personal collection of mp3 files.

Screw SESAC
So apparently YouTube decided to ban a majority of songs because of SESAC, and now i lost half my fav songs on my playlist. Yep, things are just so terrific right now- (not)
SESAC apparently blocked a buncha music on youtube and everyones gone fucking mad about it
meanwhile i dont understand because music on YT works for me and nothing ive tried to listen to on there so far shows up as blocked
