We at NeitDesign use Fiverr for several years as sellers and buyers. This freelance platform was really convenient and transparent for both sides, but lately Fiverr started to surprise us. One of this unpleasant surprises was a new hidden Service Fee for buyers.
As a rule, Fiverr sends a system messages about changes / improvements of its services that pop up when you visit the page. Surprise about Fiverr Hidden Service fees was even more dramatic as nobody received the news from Fiverr. So you do not know about it until the last step before purchase the gig on the order page. For the minimum price gig, the fee reaches 40% of the initial cost.
It is explained as “This helps us operate our platform and offer 27/7 customer support for your orders”. However, the thing is, Fiverr is already charging 20% off sellers’ income for the same purpose. Fiverr wants more money? Or does it want to cast away low budget customers? Is it not a contradiction for Fiverr’s initial purpose?
What do you think about it?
