thoughts on sero and jirou as exes
hi dear anon, i always have many thoughts even about things i didn't think i had thoughts about but i'll try to keep it short (voice of a guy who's already yapping)
now, first of all, to be exes, they have to date first. as much as i love both characters and their creative ship name (mixtape) a lot, i honestly don't really see them as romantic (without kaminari involved sorryyy) but i'll try to deviate from that. what they have in common and could bond over in my mind palace, is their shared non-binary identity (they could both use she/they or she/they/he pronouns can anyone hear me) and there's also the fact that sero's genuine laid-back attitude could be good for jirou's nerves. so, there's a sort of "balancing each other out" aspect to their relationship, i think.
however, neither of them is the type of person for big arguments. jirou can be mean but i think sero wouldn't be too affected by that, so i don't think their relationship ending could be like it blowing up in their face or something. the only way i see them being bitter as exes is if one of them has feelings for someone else and that ends up hurting the other? like this might be my serokamijirou vision talking but imagine if they both have feelings for him and they break up and then one of them gets together with him and it's painful and messy and whatnot. something like that could make their breakup a bad one and therefore their relationship as exes weird
BUT i don't think that's how it would go. in general, i think they'd be friends as exes, i think they're both mature enough to be like "yeah, we should be friends, it's chill" honestly. i can even see them joke about it like "who gets our child in the divorce" the child in question being a cactus they bought together or sharing water bottles and joking about it being an indirect kiss and stuff like "your tongue has been in my mouth, i don't think this is that scandalous". i think it'd make them closer friends even and they'd be cool about it
all that to say that i think it's a fun concept to make them exes, teenagers sometimes just date for no real reasoning, feelings shift etc. and i like the idea but i don't see myself exploring it much further (well, maybe with serokamijirou but i'm trying not to talk about that ok). however, if the question is how i think they would as exes, i think that they would be friends and chill about the whole thing unless their breakup was messy for some reason (but that also has to be something that makes sense, i really don't see either of them cheating for example, like, that's just not how the characters are in my mind palace)
