The greatest self-harm comes from taking life seriously. This means we falsely attach meaning, purpose, truth, morality, and direction to a life in which these things do not exist. Life has no direction, meaning, purpose, truth, or objective morality; we invent these things to make ourselves feel important in a universe where even galaxies are not important. Self-importance is the mother of self-seriousness, and self-seriousness is like pissing on the delicate flames of our joyous folly.
