I love SO many ships. Personally, I love to ship Seph with just about anyone I think would make him happy. Lately I've been really liking AeriSeph and SephZack because I think they're really wholesome overall. And obviously AGS will always be one of my favorite ships too.
I also still really love the Cloud/Tifa/Aerith/Zack polycule. Always a classic.
Oh, and Cloche has taken over a lot of my brain lately because of my replay of Rebirth. 🤭
This is not an extensive list, just what my brain is focused the most on right now. lol

So yesterday I was on about why Zack and Sephiroth are so special to me and I realize my thought processes may have seemed very Sephiroth-centric and one might wonder what I think Sephiroth would have to offer Zack. Well, I think he would be fiercely loyal, devoted, and loving. Do I think he'd be a perfect friend and partner? Of course not, but I do think he would try very hard. It seems clear to me that he would go out of his way to offer companionship and emotional support in any way possible. He seems like he would be very interested in helping Zack be whoever he truly wanted to be.
And then of course from an extremely shallow perspective... who wouldn't want a boyfriend who's beautiful, 6'7", ripped, and could literally kick essentially everyone's ass?
Musing about what affectionate names Zack and Sephiroth would have for each other and I like to think that Zack mostly calls Sephiroth "Seph," (I also think he's the only person who's allowed to call him that), but also calls him stuff like "Bud," "Buddy," and "Big Guy." Occasionally he'll slip in a "Babe," or "Baby," which Sephiroth secretly loves (especially Baby because it makes him feel precious, which he normally doesn't).
Sephiroth, on the other hand, is not much for pet names so he mostly just calls Zack "Zack," or sometimes "Fair." On occasion he'll throw out a "Puppy," when he's looking to make Zack roll his eyes.
I also think that it's almost impossible for Zack to make Sephiroth mad, but in the rare event that he does, he's treated to a "Zachary Fair" which makes him pretty sure he's about to get relegated to the couch.

So not that it matters to anyone other than me but one of the reasons Zack and Sephiroth are so interesting to me as a pair is that I truly feel like Zack is just about the only person who could have saved Sephiroth (or rather, helped him save himself - I'd rather not completely deny Sephiroth his agency). The only reason he wasn't able to was that Zack was painfully under informed about the severity of the situation, and so he deferred to Sephiroth's authority rather than making a judgment call to disobey orders. I truly feel that if Zack had any real idea exactly what was going on, he would have insistently dogged Sephiroth with attention until he realized, "you know what? Maybe I'm not alone after all. Maybe people do care about me. Maybe I'm not a monster, and maybe I just have to ask for some help."
I know many would say that Angeal and/or Genesis could have been his saviors and I'll be controversial here and say that I disagree. The evidence shows that, rather than clue Sephiroth in to what was going on when they started experiencing degeneration, they chose to shut him out and ultimately abandon him. I think I saw someone else say it but what I think is that there was already something wrong in their friendship at that point, so they would have had to sort that out first if they ever had hope of truly connecting with him in a way that would have helped him change his perspective and save himself from his fate.
I also think that Zack made Sephiroth feel seen as a person in a way that most other people had not. I could go on about it forever, but when they first met, Zack responded to Sephiroth with intense emotion rather than due deference, and I think that actually had a positive effect on Sephiroth. Zack didn't make him feel feared or unjustly revered. In spite of their differences in age and rank, I think they really would have been capable of feeling like equals.
The biggest irony to me, and the tragedy of Zack's situation is that he deferred to Sephiroth's authority the one time he really shouldn't have.
But for me the most important part is the "what if," and so I really like to dwell on and think about what could have happened if Zack either hadn't listened, or if something had compelled Sephiroth to reach out to Zack for help. I really think he could have helped him save himself, and I am obsessed and heartbroken by that notion.
One of my favourite things about Zack and Sephiroth's dynamic is that Sephiroth is usually stone-faced and unyielding with virtually everyone else but all Zack has to do is make a cute face and ask nicely and Sephiroth folds like a cardboard box. 💖
