Avoid these basic errors when considering your next SEO Company
We all like to believe we have recruited the best team in town to take care of our online marketing campaigns. With the internet becoming ever more competitive, with tons of companies operating within small niches, it’s imperative that you can find a company to help stand you out from the crowd.
There are numerous things to pay particular attention to whilst looking to hire an SEO company, who you will pay to help drive your company forward, boost visibility and brand awareness, and ultimately drive more traffic and sales.
Here are five of the most basic errors that SEO companies make which can have a detrimental impact on your businesses search rankings.
1. Backlinks
It’s common knowledge that backlinks play an important role in increasing your search engine rankings. Natural links to both authority and reputable websites in your niche may greatly benefit your SEO.
Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous companies out there, who take shortcuts when it comes to link building, which can result in negative consequences. They may purchase a bundle of backlinks which are built automatically using various software programmes. The main problem with this is the links are generally of low quality and seen more as spam. The search engines are well aware of this tactic, and will know the links are only being built for the benefit SEO, and take a somewhat dim view of this practise.
Ensure the SEO Company only builds links manually that are high quality, otherwise you could be in for a problem down the line
2. Fast guaranteed results
As the old adage suggests, ‘if it sounds too good to be true it usually is’, this is very true when it comes to your SEO. There are a ton of companies out that who will try and lure you in by guaranteeing fast results.
I would strongly suggest you avoid any company whose main selling point is fast results. It’s impossible to guarantee results like #1 position on Google, it’s not something which can be guaranteed. A reputable and credible agency will work hard for you behind the scenes, often spending many months on a strategy in which you will see long term benefits. They will work stringently within Googles good practise guidelines, to ensure your website does not get penalised further down the line.
3. Pay for experience
You may have spent years building your company up, gaining an impressive reputation within your market, would you risk that to potentially save a few bucks? There is a glut of SEO companies out there; in fact it’s one of the easiest businesses to start. Now don’t get me wrong, there are many start-ups out there who follow ethical practises and will work hard to achieve results for you.
I would suggest working with an established company who have at least a few years’ experience, ideally having worked with companies in a similar niche to your own. For making decision for your business, you want a company that has a proven track record of achieving results.
4. Check references
Would you think of employing someone to work within your company without checking their background, work experience or references? Nope I thought not! Well the same is true for businesses you may use to outsource services, you want peace of mind that you’re hiring the right company that are who they state they are. Not only would I check to see who have on their reference list, I would also follow up with a few, there is nothing like a glowing review. Avoid any company that has a patchy reference details, or are not forthcoming with past clients, they are not worth the risk full stop.
5. Packages designed to suit your requirements
A solid SEO company will offer a range of packages tailored to suit all budgets and personal requirements. There is no one size fits all when it comes to SEO services, all companies have very individual and specific needs, so make sure you feel very comfortable with the services being offered.
Finally
There are no guarantees of success in SEO, although if you follow some of the simple measures above, you will give enhance your chances of success. Good luck!
