Konmari method: sentimental items
We're down to the last category of the Konmari method! My keepsakes from childhood are stored at my parent’s house, so we started with the things stored in our current house. This is me sorting through our polaroid pictures in my pyjamas. :)
I had to get used to the idea of getting rid of photographs. It almost seems taboo, you can never recreate that moment and take it again! My girlfriend and I each selected the pictures that didn’t spark joy for us, and agreed to get rid of 4 in the end. It’s not a lot, but to be fair, most of the pictures made me laugh and reminded me of wonderful times, and I guess there’s nothing wrong with holding onto things that make me happy. When we finished, we organized them by year in little cloth bags.

Happy STS! I hope you’ve had a great week :D do any of your OCs have any sentimental items? If so, what are they and why are they sentimental?
Happy STS and sorry it took me so long to reply.
Giving my characters a sentimental item is a great idea. Most of them are on a flight or aimlessly wandering around, so I thought of the following sentimental items they carry around to hint at their backstories or loved ones:
Enya: a blonde lock of Lissi, who looks up to Enya as her big sister and is the only one of Enya's adoptive family who likes her. Enya misses her and feels guilty for leaving Lissi behind with her abusive parents. Meara: a shimmering mother of pearl from her mother's pearl garden Saoirse: her favourite fountain-tip pen; she got it as a gift when she was a child, the only thing she kept from her past Talib: a piece of tree bark Milena touched. His love for her is unrequited, she never even took notice of him.
Went to a gay bar yesterday for the first time, which was great. But I lost my necklace on the way home.
It had no monetary value but had my nan's ring and my granddad's tie clip on the chain. 💔 😭 I'm really kind of sad about it.

Losing sentimental items
I never thought I’d make a post like this. I have a question, for someone who may have experienced this also. How do I cope with losing items of sentimental value? Specifically in a fire?
Backstory: today a large grassfire started just south of my house, and due to heavy winds, spread quickly. I evacuated, and thankfully my family and pets made it out safely. The firefighters were able to save our house, which I am extremely thankful for. However, our shed burned down. This shed didn’t just have tools and things in it, it had a lot of memories as well. My great-grandmother’s handmade quilts, a lot of childhood pictures, my childhood books and toys, school yearbooks, handmade Christmas ornaments that my mom still loved putting on her tree every year, etc. All of these are things that can’t be replaced. I’m really just at a loss right now. So how do I come to terms and cope with this? Any advice would be appreciated.
