Bad Habits
My new hobby is comparing myself to absolutely everyone I pass, just, it seems, to find myself lacking in one way or another.
"Self Concious"
I cease from being my true and authentic self when I attach to an image of who I am or an image of how others may see me.
When this happens I get tangled and caught up in worry or thoughts about this image, rather than being present with my natural presence.
This causes me to lose focus from what is really going on, because my mind is elsewhere, frozen, trying to make myself look a certain way in appearance to the 'other'.
The result - isolation of myself from the other person and a missed opportunity for connection or genuine human contact.
It's like we live in our own prison of how we see ourselves. Like trying to put a puzzle together to see the picture clearly of how we should appear, act and behave in front of another.
To present my true self I must be present with my self and that is to mute the noise of chatter going on in my mind. To accept unconditionally who I am to the core and that is to face some really harsh truths along with it.
But when we can befriend our own shadow we haven't the need to play around with our self image like a rubix cube.
It is beautiful, it is messy and I just have to stop trying to control so much.
And a lot of the time, the mental noise of negative self talk is just noise. It doesn't actually mean anything and can only be reality with our own concious power.
Be careful of what thoughts you give away your power and energy to.

Lucille used every camera, lighting, wig and make-up trick known to try to combat the effects of aging on her television shows over the years and by the start of 'The Lucy Show' close-ups of Lucy became fewer and fewer. I imagine that a certain amount of vanity must exist when you are an internationally known celebrity but sadly, I think this self-conciousness over her natural appearance consumed her. The awful press and public comments she sometimes received hurt her. 'Years of heavy makeup and California sun, plus the passage of time, had so damaged Lucy's white skin that she now had to be photographed through a special lense with a scrim. Introducing my family, Part 2. This is my mama, @eggdroperin She does almost all of the postings in my accounts. These pictures were likely taken at a grandparent’s house in Illinois. Mama’s daddy is a retired minister. Mama would often go with him to visit sick folks. One of her favorite stops was at a lady’s house who had a Boston terrier! From there, her love for the breed was born. Mama has several diagnosed and undiagnosed chronic illnesses, so she is unable to work. She says that she has the body of an 80 year old and the mind of a 100 year old.
