After a week of sunny running, the misty clouds around the Lakeview mountains were a welcome recharge. . Didn’t feel that way before I got out of the car but was quickly reminded that I actually don’t mind running in the rain. . There’s a feeling of invincibility that rain running brings out and, especially in our rain forest, there’s an added energy among the trees that makes it more enjoyable. . Definitely took a few extra moments at on the trail to soak it all in. Not heeding the warnings in my grippy #NewBalance #hierrov3’s. Mind you, with a week to go to DV50, I wasn’t burning up the trails at all. . Needed to get this run in as the #tapertantrums were pretty real today. Patience was low, had a hard time getting the niece to nap, and was very little help to my bro in the middle of renovating his place. . Feeling better now though realising I’m a lot more nervous about the race than I thought I’d be. I’ve been reminding myself not to go in over confident considering this will be my 6th 50k race, and I know to respect the distance given the roller coasters I’ve been on during them. . Time to get focussed on positives this week, it seems, and quiet this racing mind of mine. . One week. Taking advantage of some perfect evening running conditions and skipped the day off since my legs were feeling pretty good after yesterday’s O-run. . Wasn’t planning on going fast (#brokenrecord), but had to get back home to meet a friend so I picked up the pace and banged out a negative split including my fastest 2-mile stretch to close. Must be my new #nuun shirt that has me so quick!!! . With back-to-back meetings tomorrow through lunch and some rainy weather, will simply move my day off to then. .
