As we step into a New Year, many Christians choose to pray and fast, not out of tradition alone, but out of deep desire for God’s direction.
Starting today, who wants to pray and fast with me through New Year's Eve?
Prayer re-centers our hearts on God. It reminds us that the year ahead is not something we walk into alone. When we pray, we listen for His voice, align our plans with His will, and invite His peace, wisdom, and power into every area of our lives. Fasting helps quiet the noise. By intentionally setting aside something good (like food), we create space for something greater ... ... greater dependence on God, greater spiritual clarity, and greater sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. It’s a way of saying, “Lord, I want You more than anything else.”
The New Year brings unknowns, challenges, and opportunities. Prayer and fasting position our hearts to start the year humbly, intentionally, and faith-filled, seeking God first, trusting Him fully, and walking forward obediently.
“Seek first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33)
May this year begin not just with resolutions, but with surrender.
