Advice for Remy, Day 47. Have the perseverance to follow the things that you start through to the end. People give up very easily at times - they always have. I bet for every completed Roman Coliseum still standing today there were twenty more which never made it past the first row of decorative archways. Iām certainly no exception to this rule. Many is the project Iāve started with a zealous enthusiasm, determined to create something amazing, or overhaul something in need of change, or express myself in some incredible way. I go out all guns blazing, with armfuls of kit and oodles of determination and attack it head on. Unfortunately, many is also the project which fell by the wayside, looking forlorn on a shelf half completed, or in a dark corner of the garden awaiting a reignition of inspiration. Iād like to say itās always a case of life getting in the way, but generally itās more the case that something else came along, or the initial enthusiasm waned to the point that I couldnāt really be bothered any more. Itās not a nice trait, and itās one Iām working hard on to make sure I donāt pass it on. Okay, so completing a jigsaw of the Titanic over the space of a few days is hardly on a par with a kitchen renovation, digging a pond or writing a novel, but itās a start. And actually, bearing in mind a huge proportion of it was in black and white, itās amazing we didnāt throw the bloody thing into the garden long before we finished. So Iām chalking this one up as a victory for perseverance, albeit it a rather small one. Youāve got to start somewhere, after all.
