Red zinnia seeds saved for planting from autumn 2025. We will start these in spring of this year 2026.

I’m going to set up a seed sharing box in my neighborhood and I’m torn between only stocking it with organic/ heirloom/ non-GMO/ non-hybrid etc. seeds (I’m not actually against GMOs but ya know what I mean) or just allowing every kind with no regulations …both options have pros and cons. Of course it’s super cool and important to preserve old kinds of seeds that haven’t been bred for commercial use and have been around for generations. On the other hand, I think it might just be way more accessible if everyone can put in some seeds that they have left over/ grew/ harvested from store bought fruit and veggies without having to worry about if they’re organic and all….idk!

Where I live, nurseries are suddenly experiencing high demand for food plants, seeds and associated garden products. Faced with extended social lock downs and variable food availability folks are obviously looking to take better control of their food supply.

WE MORE EXPERIENCED GARDENERS NOW NEED TO STEP FORWARD AND HELP THESE NEWBIES.

Fellow growers, more than ever we now need to be sharing our seeds, knowledge and time with all the folks just starting out.
