More top coat tests
Base: 2 coats SH Hard as Nails Hardener.
Colour: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Cinna-snap + 1 coat Seche Vite. The Cinna-snap covers beautifully in 2 coats, but it comes off on the Seche Vite brush. I almost never have this problem with Seche Vite. I had to clean the brush between each nail to keep from turning my Seche Vite pink.
L hand:
Pinky: 2 coats Revlon Super Lustrous Nail Enamel in Clear. Extremely smooth. Scratched on first day. More scratches on day 2.
Ring: 2 coats CND Vinylux Gel-Like Effect Long Wear Top Coat. Fairly smooth after curing. Scratched on first day. Day 3: Lots of scratches, teeny bit of tip wear.
Middle: 1 coat CND, 1 coat OPI Gel Plump Effect Volumizing Top Cost. CND brush strokes still visible. Day 3: little bit of scratching, teeny bit of tip wear. Chipped on day 6.
★Index: 1 coat CND, 1 coat ASP Nail Fortress! Tiny dent/scratch at end of day 1. Day 3: eensy teensy bit of tip wear. This one lasted the best.
Thumb: 2 coats Nail Fortress. Very smooth. Brush strokes visible. Small scratch on day 2. Day 3: tiny bit of scratching, very minor tip wear.
R hand:
Thumb: 2 coats OPI. Some scratching on day 2. Day 3: little bit of tip wear.
★ Index: 1 coat CND, 1 coat OPI. Scratched on day 2. Day 3: No perceptible tip wear. This one lasted second best.
Middle: 2 coats OPI. Day 3: A few scratches, noticeable tip wear.
Ring: 2 coats Nail Fortress. Day 3: one small scratch, minor tip wear.
Pinky: 2 coats Revlon.
I spent about 20 minutes in the sun on the afternoon of the first day to cure the CND.
Initial thoughts: CND brush strokes still visible even covered with another top coat! Cap the tip BEFORE putting top coat on rest of nail. I suspect the final showdown will be 2 coats OPI vs. CND + OPI.
Thoughts 1 week later: They all lasted very well, almost a week with little wear. But CND + OPI and CND + Nail Fortress were the clear winners.
