Your 21st, 30th, 40th and 50th birthdays are special. 🥳Everything else is forgettable. Usually. This year was something else for me. 🤯 Wednesday morning I started seeing messages from IG friends asking what in the heck is going on in my country!? 🇺🇸Protestors were taking over the U.S. Capitol. It was unreal, like a bad futuristic movie. 🎬 The U.S. has had a bad year. Democrats have endured four years of “45,” whose leadership around COVID has been confusing and divisive. 🦠In other countries, widely understood policies were established so citizens knew the rules and the consequences for ignoring them. 😷 That didn’t happen here, so it’s no wonder the infection rate here is highest in the world. 🌎 In 2020 killings of black Americans at the hands of law enforcement kicked off a worldwide movement.⚰️ And that wasn't enough: Climate compromises led to vulnerability and resulted in 🔥 fires, smoke, deaths and the destruction of nearly 9 million acres and losses of 3 billion dollars. 💰 Conservatives fear what will happen with Biden in the White House.🐘 My prediction: They will get through it. 🤝 The power of political parties is cyclical. The opposition is never happy, but everyone survives. 🐴 A friend, Pat Weaver mentioned how it’s reminiscent of the late 60s when the country was divided over the war and civil rights.⚖️ At that time some believed the country was torn apart and wouldn’t heal. 🧨Periods of social unrest can bring about change that leads to periods of relative peace.☮️ I hope we’ve reached the crest and will begin to see the country heal and unite. There was a long time where the U.S. was admired and regarded as a world leader. 🥇I hope we can get there again.🗽 . . .
