IT WAS RARE FOR THE UCHIHA TO BECOME FAZED WITH ANYTHING THAT WENT ON IN THIS WORLD. Having seen so much in his own world, he thought he’d be composed and able to keep himself together. But that thought was wrong in many forms. Needless to say, he was having a rather tough day to begin with. The idea of getting out of bed today was the last thing on his mind after a rough night of vivid nightmares.
Though it was his day off, he didn’t want to do anything but slump on the bed and look absentmindedly at his hands for the whole day. The same hands that had brought destruction to so many people’s lives. No matter what he did or how hard he washed them, the memories of his timeline wouldn’t come off. It had put him enough on the edge that the very tune of his phone was enough to make him jump. Ah, yes, he remembered. He was supposed to accompany Aqua around today—she put it as “two friends having fun.” He had agreed to it after enough coercing from Aqua about how fresh air during a day off was good for the mind.
Begrudgingly, he had gotten ready to meet up with Aqua around the main square of Wonderland, hearing her remarked that he looked rough and worse for wear. At that point, he would have rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue instead: he apologized. Sasuke knew Aqua was perceptive and careful so he expected it when she had sat him down by the fountain and asked what was wrong.
He couldn’t bring himself to lie to her, so he told her the truth.
❝ Sometimes I think I’m not strong enough. ❞
He concluded as he looked down at his calloused hands. But his head didn’t remain downcast for long as he heard Aqua tell him that he was strong. Sasuke had immediately looked up at her, searching her eyes to find any spot of lies.
❝ D-...Do you really think that way? ❞
