They knew each other as kids. This is pretty obvious since Ocean herself has said that she's known most of the choir since pre-K, but I wanna imagine that she and Ricky were actually childhood friends who grew apart in middle school because Ocean started becoming more influenced by societal standards and stuff like that.

They have definitely bonded over nerdy/geeky stuff like comics. In present time, Ocean probably calls comics a waste of time but Ricky has blackmail material of her gushing about the new Robin [her favourite is Tim Drake]

-Ocean is probably really into philosophy and yaps to Ricky about it a lot

-finds ways to "subtlely" allow Ricky to start telling them the most random shit

-considers sex to be really gross and through that, Ricky helps them realize that she's asexual [specifically apothisexual!!]

Ricky:

-pansexual and ambiguously transgender [no one knows if they're transfem or transmasc] she/he/they

-doesn't really consider Ocean as his friend anymore, but she knows what the former is going through [and they don't excuse their actions despite that]

-I think Ricky fell first but her crush on Ocean faded when she started becoming judgemental and narcissistic

-Ricky's science obsession is more about astronomy [obviously] as well as psychology and evolution

-surprisingly not a yapper. He prefers to keep to himself and her own thoughts but if anyone asks them about things he likes then she wouldn't hesitate to talk to them about it

but because the real miracle would involve that AND the four kids of Mrs. Ushiromiya realizing their dad has no power over them anymore and that they can be who they want to be rather than who the shadow of a dead man wanted them to be

like. Krauss is a dork who has zero financial/business sense but is a big dreamer and wants to be a husband and dad that his wife and daughter can be proud of. Eva wants sooooo badly to not be crushed by the iron vise of Patriarchy and would probably unironically kill it as the actual head of the family (both relieving Krauss from the responsibility of being a Big Strong Patriarch Man for the other siblings and allowing Eva the chance to actually try and be the Big Strong Patriarchy Man and realizing it still sucks because something something capitalism). Rudolf needs to get his shit together and stop being sexually attracted to Duplicitous Women, i'm sorry idk how to help this man. Rosa...oughhhhhh she needs her own post, she's such a basket of problems, though not being scapegoated and bullied by her older siblings would probably help. as like, an appetizer. i suppose i'm a dreamer myself, and i do believe all four of Kinzo's children (*from Mrs. Ushiromiya) had the potential to be good people, good parents, and simply needed a way to find an out from their collective trauma that wasn't "...and then their house with almost everyone in it is fucking atomized by a literal boatload of WW2-era ordnance".

but also like. the problems of their family run SO deep, it legitimately goes over all of their heads because this shit arguably goes back to pre-Kanto Earthquake times with the old Ushiromiya family and their customs and Kinzo's "revival" only further exacerbates these issues. shit, Kinzo himself is a victim to a lot of these issues i bring up! he's also a terrifyingly massive victimizer in his own right and i only have the tiiiiniest shreds of mercy for him. after all, he only meets biche because he joined the imperial army in hopes of going out via Suicide By Allied Forces.
