helloooooo sunsets enjoyers! this post is here to let you know we officially have a second project in the works, with the first chapter posted >:3 i'd mentioned a ton before that i was working on a prequel and well, this is it! it's called "all of this is temporary," in reference to halsey's song "bells in santa fe" on her album "if i can't have love, i want power". if you wanna know anything about this new fic, give the album a listen hehe

this new series is called "people disappear here" btw (another halsey/power ref) and will be slow to update with bits about a bunch of characters you didn't get a chance to see in the og sunsets.

here's the blurb for all of this is temporary:

Up until now, Sebastian has had a kill count of none. Now he has a kill count of one: his mother. Everyone left someone behind, but he's the only one to kill that someone. Unfortunately for him and his whole group -- now consisting of Abigail, Sam, Alex, and Haley-- this fact changes everything. The prequel to the first fic in this series, "late dawns, early sunsets" !!!

and here's the first paragraph of this very short opening chapter!:

White grout turns red as fluid seeps toward Sebastian's little feet. There's a crack in the tile, there's— there's glass shattered and fragmented all over the floor. Glass in spikes, glass in chunks, glass dusting every inch of the tiny apartment kitchen even if he can't see it. He can't walk forward, backward, or even attempt to step around the mess. So he stands there, frozen, hands that seemed to stop working thirty seconds ago finding themselves shaking as he heaves.

ch 7: for a pessimist i'm pretty optimistic

good timezone gangaronis!!! the other day i posted ch 7 of seasons after like. 8 months of not posting. the last update was literally in october. ANYWAYS i'm pleased with this new chapter and am glad i let it sit instead of rushing it for the sake of putting something out.

here's this chapter's blurb:

Sometimes Abigail takes things into her own hands, puts Sebastian in a situation where he has enough autonomy to say no, but really should let go of control. Setting up a new Solarian Chronicles campaign for the two of them and Sam was one of such situations. It was fine enough in the moment, but now today's the day and nothing's prepared the way it should be.

and here's the first paragraph:

There’s an old digital clock on Sebastian’s desk. The numbers glow a faint red, flickering now and then like they are on the brink. Sometimes they torment him —whether in the time they create in unison or the dizzying rave in his peripheral when he attempted to sleep— but he kept the janky thing plugged in nonetheless. It was his grandfather’s, after all.

Nothing stays the same - Chapter 13

Overall summary: Sebastian, Sam, and Abigail have been best friends for years, little changing even as they all grew well into adulthood. Much like everyone else of their generation in Pelican Town, they've struggled to get on their feet and find independence, but the familiar comfort and stability of the way things have always been has been good enough for the three of them. After Sebastian and Sam's ex-friend Mallory returns to town after a decade away, however, they begin to wake up from their sleepy status quo and crave more. At least, Sam and Abigail crave more— Sebastian is afraid that change will shatter everything he holds dear.

A midquel to Coming Around Again, taking place during the events of that fic.

Chapter 13 summary: After not hearing from Sebastian in over three months, Sam is overthinking everything. He begins to obsess over a trivial superstition that he's sure will win his friend back.
