i got to hear my school district's students ask questions to a california representative about gun violence in school, along with hearing a wonderful message, live from the parkland hs students!
main points:
1. increasing money to go towards reinforcing protection in schools like metal detectors and arming certain teachers makes no sense, when we can simply ban assault rifles. don't buy into the idea that we should prioritize the second amendment over people's lives.
2. many schools for some reason take money from the nra!! research to see if businesses/schools around you accept nra money! protest it!
3. students coming together makes change. use your voice, create clubs, organize field trips to your state capitol and talk to representatives! its hard to get out there, so if you arent able to do that, register to vote (you can do so when youre 16, so you can automatically vote when you turn 18), write to congress, spread awareness through social media!
im so proud of students coming together and making a change! for so long, we've been swept under the rug- now that the national spotlight is shined on us, let's use it!!!
