School if it didn't start at like 7am, be 6 hours long instead of 8, prioritize learning over grades, give you breaks during the day past elementary, and actually care about your education and well being.
Getting ready for the school year is such an exciting experience every time, I love cataloging the supplies I have from previous years and making a small list of things I need for this year (+ a pack of fun erasers, ever single year deserves a fun pack of like 3-4 erasers)
Does anyone have any tips for going into senior year of high school? I'm a little scared (ó﹏ò。)
“not to be that person, but…”
the new school year is around the corner! as someone who’s still in France on family vacation right now, that might be a weird thing to say but to me it’s closer than anything. last year I did everything to be well prepared for the new school year (8th grade). I tried romanticizing it, getting new school stuff, making new friends… ended up being the worst year of my life. that’s partly just because people were fucking assholes, though. i admit i hated almost all of them. i did get a boyfriend tho! this year will hopefully be different, im gonna try doing everything at a calm pace. i’m also going to a new school so i’m extremely excited for that!! here’s my goals for this year:
– friends
I don’t want a huuuge friendgroup, but neither do I want only 1-2 friends. I’m gonna try my best to make most people like me and have about 5 close friends. S.R (a friend i made this year) and S.B (childhood friend) are going to the same school as me which is a great start!
– makeup
I’m fully aware that my style and makeup routine are going to change throughout the year but I’d like to have a simple routine in my first few weeks.
- concealer (nose, cheeks, chin, above eyebrows)
- contour (under cheekbones, on forehead)
- bronzer (on nose)
- blush (on cheekbones)
- mascara
- a little eyeliner on waterline & baby wing
- soft lipliner
– talents
I haven’t been focussing on my creative talents in ages, that’s why I decided to go to art school this year. I’m gonna be singing, dancing and acting! I think I’m good for the singing part, but dancing and acting… i’m not sure. acting has always been something I liked to do, but that doesn’t mean I’m good at it. I hope to practice it more though. and the only form of dancing I’ve ever done is TikTok dances, so that’ll be a new experience.
– studying
my grades went all the way down last year, so I need to make up for it. I’m gonna do homework in advance and try romanticizing studying by using techniques, lightning candles, playing background music and having a snack/drink with me.
– school food
breakfast
as none of you know, I struggled with an ED most of this year and that’s how I found out breakfast is the most important part of the day. I’m gonna try out different recipes in the first week, all with a cinnamon/caramel iced latte ofc!
- stoved apple with cinnamon and oats
- yoghurt bowl with granola, fruits and honey
- boiled eggs with cucumber slices
- banana strawberry smoothie
lunch
I would sometimes skip lunch at school because people would make fun of the home made meals I brought but that was NEVER worth it. I was extremely hungry all day long.
- salad (cucumber, corn, tomatoes)
- boiled eggs with chicken
Im back
WE are getting more absences this school year. WE are getting sick 8 times this school year. WE are locking in.

The school year is just around the corner! For those much like myself, school is beginning as early as today!
Lately, things have been seemingly just speeding by, and I know I’m not alone in this. Days, weeks, and even months, all flying by. When everything seems to just be going by on x2 speed, we need to remember how to press pause, and take a breather.
While everyone else gives you tips on how to survive this school year, let me tell you some ways to THRIVE this year.
For the kids going into sophomore year
As a tumblr native I’m of course very aware of the kids on here, so for those of you going into your sophomore year of high school in the American school system I have one word of advice; dedicate all of your attention to chemistry. I’m not joking. I’ll set the scene for you:
it’s the beginning of the school year, and you’ve finished learning about ions. You’ve gotten your seat, you’re talking to some new people, and chemistry seems pretty baseline so far. You’re starting to learn about the periodic table and valence electrons. You decide to zone out.
It’s the second semester. You’re in stoichiometry. Your teacher won’t let you use anything but the railroad method for calculations. You never learned how to properly balance equations. It’s almost time for the unit test. You have 72 hours.
Chemistry truly was hell for me. I don’t like seeing these videos about going into (insert school year) and it being very baseline with no actual help. So let me be your godmother and warn you now: you will not pass your sophomore year if you do not actually put in the work to understand chemistry. It will sneak up on you and kick you in the ass. This is the one class that you actually need to focus all 45 minutes of your attention in. Don’t slip up, do the homework, and suck it up and go to lunch or after school tutoring if you need them. This is the first class you’re going to take that will actually challenge your ability to apply your thinking skills and attention span. Do with this what you may, but mark my words, you’ll remember this post and thank me later. Focus your attention on chemistry.
