The school year is just around the corner! For those much like myself, school is beginning as early as today!
Lately, things have been seemingly just speeding by, and I know I’m not alone in this. Days, weeks, and even months, all flying by. When everything seems to just be going by on x2 speed, we need to remember how to press pause, and take a breather.
While everyone else gives you tips on how to survive this school year, let me tell you some ways to THRIVE this year.
For the kids going into sophomore year
As a tumblr native I’m of course very aware of the kids on here, so for those of you going into your sophomore year of high school in the American school system I have one word of advice; dedicate all of your attention to chemistry. I’m not joking. I’ll set the scene for you:
it’s the beginning of the school year, and you’ve finished learning about ions. You’ve gotten your seat, you’re talking to some new people, and chemistry seems pretty baseline so far. You’re starting to learn about the periodic table and valence electrons. You decide to zone out.
It’s the second semester. You’re in stoichiometry. Your teacher won’t let you use anything but the railroad method for calculations. You never learned how to properly balance equations. It’s almost time for the unit test. You have 72 hours.
Chemistry truly was hell for me. I don’t like seeing these videos about going into (insert school year) and it being very baseline with no actual help. So let me be your godmother and warn you now: you will not pass your sophomore year if you do not actually put in the work to understand chemistry. It will sneak up on you and kick you in the ass. This is the one class that you actually need to focus all 45 minutes of your attention in. Don’t slip up, do the homework, and suck it up and go to lunch or after school tutoring if you need them. This is the first class you’re going to take that will actually challenge your ability to apply your thinking skills and attention span. Do with this what you may, but mark my words, you’ll remember this post and thank me later. Focus your attention on chemistry.
You guys underestimate how hard I’m gonna lock in this school year.
Halfway Through Summer: Time to Make the Most of the Season Before Back-to-School Begins
July 15, 2026 As the calendar reaches July 15, summer is already halfway over, offering families, students, and professionals a reminder to make the most of the weeks ahead before the busy back-to-school season begins. School is going to be starting for me again soon. And the way that thought has affected me mentally is astonishing. My sister has all her sports training in the summer, my mom is planning back to school clothes, and supplies. And i have never been more depressed. Annoyed. And pissed off than now. Just thinking about going to school has me curling up in a ball, gripping at my hair, and screaming.
It's not that I am a bad student. Or have a bully. I am actually a pretty good student and have a decent amount of people I can rely on. It's just the fact that I have to go through the sitting in a chair for eight hours, be pressured about grades, pressured about collage, about my future, and having to be at the Beck and call of my fucking school! To be held in the walls and halls, to deal with the screeches and screams and yelling and brain rot of my fellow classmates. To be shoved into a room with all that too! I. Can't. Take. It. Anymore! It's just so suffocating that I don't think I can do another year and be the happy and bubbly person I used to be. School just took so much out of me last year. I don't know what it will do this year.
School is starting soon and I wanna be a new me this school year does anyone have any ways or ideas how I can be more confident and not be as shy when meeting new people
