Targeted ads, contact syncing, etc are the worst as a schizospec
Something something autism and things sounded better in my head
Something something schizospec and things sometimes sound worse in my head, but almost always sound even worse outside my head?
Much love to all neurodivergents out there who feel wrong out there for daring to be yourself
Do the rest of y'all on spectrums of neurodivergence like schizospec and autism (and likely adhd which i may have too but not thus far diagnosed with) struggle to read articles etc when there is any moving part like an inset autoplay video or animated ad on the page?
Personally I find it's so distracting from the text I actually came to read, personally usually have to and it's worse when lack of sleep makes symptoms like cognitive effects flare up. Usually I'll scroll to just after/before the ad while I read, but sometimes they put two moving ads/autoplay vids within one length of the screen (if that makes sense) so you can't scroll away.
Not to mention this probably affects epileptic folks from time to time. This kinda shit should actually be considered as an accessibility/disability rights issue. Like there should be laws against these excessive ads and autoplays. Publicly available news and information should really be accessible for everyone.
Before you say just use AdBlock, I'm usually only on Android devices (cos by the time my slow old computer starts up my chrinically fatigued* ass needs to go back to bed) so can't use extensions as yet. Also Brave browser is my fave on tablet but cor some reason the app broke/stopped working at all when I had it on my phone.
Might have to use 12ft io more but it gets overwhelming/tiresome/inconvenient having to always do that like when I'm just trying to read an article from within/without leaving the Google News app.
When it's a shopping site, I really appreciate it when - if they have a changing banner - they make it so that the banner isn't fixed (at the top of screen no matter how far down you scroll), so I don't have to see it but it's there if I need to refer back to it and just have to scroll to the top.
*not from CFS per se, but schizospec symptom/side effects X autistic burnout
As a schizospec I am immensely delighted in discovering that you can turn off all microphone access on Android. Begone, demons*!
*Meta and co

Anyone else relate to how painful it is to have to go out into the public when you are stuck on a sleep-deprived rambling/oversharing spree and can't manage to mask either the autism or schizospec?
Emotional dysregulation is REAL, y'all
I just saw a cute birb and now I kinda wanna drop everything and become a birdwatcher lol
New special interest unlocked (well it was always there but it just intensified lol)
I tried to get a pic but only got bad ones, but I think it was a finch. I just Googled NZ finches and it's maybe a greenfinch
We are sooo lucky to have such beautiful birds right in our literal backyard
I also saw/heard a Tui the other day and became entranced for a little while.
But when I tell people I watched a bird i am usually met with disparaging comments like "lucky for some I wish I could just watch birds all day". I'm sick and tired of it just let people enjoy life wth the little dopamine they get!?
Like non-disabled ppl are literally miserable working a dayjob to survive (which, like I get it but your people aren't ur enemy capitalism is) so they don't want anyone else to be happy and then they act surprised when I end up focusing on "the negatives" in life a lot - bc I have been taught it is actually apparently unacceptable for me to express joy/euphoria over simple things -- i literally can't win so I'll just do what i damn well please and shut up about it (except on here)
Sorry this wasn't meant to become a rant but it did lol. Has anyone else disabled/neurodivergent noticed that phenomenon where you're damned if you don't, damned if ya do/can't win? Not allowed to enjoy/express joy for life at all just bc other people suffer?
And back to original point: birdwatchers what are some good field guide book recommendations for NZ birbs?
Wanted to make a separate post about one of my tags on the previous post:
idk it's like you get a schizospec DX and suddenly nobody wants to diagnose you with any futher disabilities you probably also have
Does any other schizospec have trouble getting any other diagnosis? It might be a New Zealand thing idk but like I asked about funded ways to get official autism diagnosis, but doctor said just focus on the issues you're already struggling with. I think I have PTSD too bc I saw it on one of my application forms filled out by my doctor to get some funded therapy but I haven't specifically been told aloud that I do so idk. Just having psychosis pretty much gives you PTSD anyways i believe
Btw i am autistic bc i have actually been unofficially diagnosed by two different clinical psychologists and one is my twin who grew up alongside me so she witnessed all the signs firsthand. It's just that it's $1200NZD to get a private DX here because the psychologist has to pay something like that amount or more for the specific autism diagnosing kit. Idk if people know that but that's apparently the main reason it sounds like
