            HAL SIGHS AND RUBS HIS forehead in an effort to relax after what had been a very long day. and now of course SPOOKY has decided to force him on to monitor duty as if he doesn’t have anything better to do. his only saving grace is that it appears that he’s on duty with BARRY. this must not have been BATMAN’S doing because hal knows that there’s a snowball’s chance in hell that bruce would ever do anything remotely nice for him. he glances up when he feels the whoosh of air that usually accompanies barry’s entrance into a room. he gives his best friend a grin and cants his head up to look at him.

             ❛ how pissed do you think the bat dork would be if we ordered pizza to the watchtower? ❜

“Hrmph…”

The sky rumbled above Wally, dark clouds giving the kind of foreboding that it would rain soon, when he came to a sudden halt in the middle of Central City. The smell of rain heavy around him.

The street was deserted, people already feeling the pressure of the weather and staying close to their home. At this time of the day it was possible for almost everyone, the day almost gone.

Wally would have gone home too, if it hadn’t been for the sudden change of energy in the air. At first he couldn’t really tell what had happened and thought that the weather might get to him. Until he had seen something moving at a speed that should only be available to him.

But it was also possible that he had a visitor in his City.

With a grim face he had taken to track the other down, closing in at a speed that shouldn’t have been too threatening. He didn’t want to bash heads in. Not yet anyway.

“And I’m putting a lot of thought into undoing it.”

The smile at Hal’s lips curved into something significantly less innocent. Brown eyes flashed up to blue; warm fingers moved to trace over Barry’s arm. “Yeah? How you plan on doing that?”

Hal touched down a good ways away from the front door. It was the middle of the night, and he knew the neighborhood well -- he doubted anyone saw him, Nevertheless, he was careful -- dimming his lights and powering down as he trekked across the front lawn.

It’d been two years as far as he could tell. Maybe longer, but he hadn’t been in the position to keep track. He’d been on a side of the universe where time was kept an awful lot slower than here on earth, and the mission had been covert, so he hadn’t been allowed any contact. That was the shittiest part about it all: not the time spent away, but being forbidden to tell anyone he was coming back. For the most part, he figured everyone thought he was dead. Not that he blamed them; he’d think he was dead too. 

But it was time to come back to life, and this was his first stop.

He knocked on the door like he always did, like his father did -- three taps, a pause, then a fourth. For the likes of Barry, it wouldn’t take long, but perhaps a beat longer considering it was three in the morning.
