He knew about the semi colon. He had one himself. But imagine to his surprise that someone yourself , so bubbly kind and caring has one.
Then he learned your story. Before your relationship with him you were forced into an arranged marriage. It was a deadly one. The guy was abusive. The marriage was so bad you attempted to take your life. And yet your parents refused to let you divorce.
'I managed to get the divorce granted after I tried three more times.' You said looking down at your wrist.
'Do you know why you stopped your attempts?' He asked taking a hold of your hand.
'I ran into you. Believe it or not it was you.' You smiled at him 'I remembered our time as high school sweethearts.'
Aether chuckled pulling your hand close. He kissed it.
'I'm glad your around still.' He smiled. 'I know it been rough but we're here now.'
You nodded.
'Good. Cuddles?'
Xiao
Like aether xiao had one as well. He suspected you had one as well. The daily therapy was obvious.
You wore a tank top one day. On your wrists sat a butterfly with a name. The body of the butterfly was a semi colon.
He pulled you down in his lap asking about it.
You explained the meaning of it. The semi colon showed you battling with your thoughts while the butterfly showed rebirth. The name was your grandparents name.
He hugged you tightly. You returned the gesture running your hands through his hair.
'Can I ask why you stopped?' He asked quietly.
'Three. My grandparent said they rain hell down on everyone if I decided to follow through. Two. That black jackass over in the cat tree acting smug. One' you kissed his head.

You questioned how you managed to make a love story with aether. When your birthday came around aether surprised you with the surgery. He caught wind of what you were doing.
After some discussions without letting it slip what he was doing he made the appointment. You accepted it with the secret promise to pay him back. So under the anesthesia you went. Out you came with the implants.
'So she wont be able to use them for two weeks. Keep water off them.' The doctor droned on and handed aether a packet with instructions. He nodded taking the papers. He walked over to your sleeping figure. Gently kissing your forehead.
'A little longer kitten. Then I can pop the question. Happy birthday.' He nuzzled your hair then left.

The reality? He kinda was BUT he had a good reason. He wanted to remarry you. Ever since he found out about the cochlear implants he discreetly made plans to redo the wedding. He had grabbed you wedding dress and had it tailored to your current size. He looked online and found the venue it was held at. He rebooked the honeymoon trip suite included. He made sure everything was ready. Your wedding ring was also resized and redone.
You decided to power through somewhat and sign the papers. He then slide a card to you. It had a date and address in it.
So you showed up with yae miko in tow. She pulled you into a dressing room and helped you into it.

When you showed up once more you were sent to the nurses office constantly to get pain meds. People thought you were getting addicted so teachers started to deny you the meds. Thunder went off and you jumped.

This caused you to breakdown. Xiao kept telling you it was ok it happens. After sometimes of calming down he asked you what been going on what youve been up too ect.
You explained the last few weeks and the incident. He hugged you.

Kazuha helped you with gliding. You were very light to him so you did the koala hug. Climbing? Well leave it to the kitsune but kazuha prefered it of you just hanged off his back.
Cooking? You started a forest fire by accident. It was rather intersting but no one got hurt and the fire was out in a hour thank to your anemo companion. Everyone had a laugh. Story to tell the kids one day.
