@orbiten figured I might as well share the full 5 minutes bit from the Masterful bts, because, the issue of "the least competent Master" aside, the writers are really sweet about John Simm as an actor, basically putting him right behind sir Derek fucking Jacobi as the best actor to play the character, and also Simm has a fanboy moment over Jacobi, so overall it's a nice listen :D

But yeah, this is the reason I can't say I fully trust Big Finish with Saxon Master... Just, the logic of "well, we built up a full story for a character that appeared as the character for some 5 minutes and then retroactively interpreted the other characterization through what we came up with a decade after it was written" is just, uhm. Giving me flashbacks to ASOIAF/AGOT fandom using show only scenes to interpret the book characters. Like, I agree that if Saxon approached a door with "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" written on it, he'd just go "that sign won't stop me because I CAN'T READ", but like. barring the wording, that's hardly something unique to this regeneration...
