Plot: Gwendolyn's aunts have finally arrived in Chicago to visit their beloved niece, and decided to help around the bakery (after a misunderstanding upon their arrival in Part 1).
The Nightshade sisters are at it again! feat. a certain pirate đ
Part 2/?
The bakery was as busy as usual, with Gwendolynâs regular number of customers coming to and fro, placing their orders and happily leaving with their tasty treats, while others remained seated in the bakery, savoring her pastries with much gusto.
Gwendolyn remained behind the counter ringing up customers, while her aunts all took turns taking orders from customers that remained in the bakery. Odessa did fairly well, as she was very attentive and made sure everyoneâs orders were taken accordingly. Meanwhile Seraphina complained all throughout her task, even going as far as questioning some customersâ orders, and as for Adissa, she rarely took any orders at all, as she was too busy playing with Gumdrop, or sometimes getting distracted by the bakeryâs lovely decor.
In the end, Gwendolyn suggested that both Seraphina and Adissa could help each other in the kitchen, to make sure all of the magical utensils were doing their job in baking more treats properly. Seraphina wasnât too keen about it, but Adissa happily obliged, even though she didnât appear to have registered what her niece said.
âMy goodness theyâre getting everything dirty!â cried Seraphina as they arrived in the kitchen, witnessing the floury mess all of the baking utensils were doing.
âTheyâre having fun!â laughed Adissa, as she happily danced along to a cake mixer hopping about while mixing its batter.
âGwendolyn needs to brush up on her spells,â Seraphina complained. âOtherwise, theyâll bring her whole bakery to the ground!â
As the sisters began to put things in order, they heard a noise coming from the back door, and exchanged worried looks before checking to see what it was. A tall man stood outside, holding something in his hand, which the sisters immediately recognized as a common Saventhian flower. He looked a bit disheveled, as though he had just returned from a long trip, and a strong smell of sea salt lingered around him.
He was surprised to be greeted by the sisters, but still acknowledged them in a very polite manner, which greatly contrasted his appearance.
âWhat are you doing here?!â asked Seraphina. âGo on, state your business!â
The man laughed. âI brought a gift for Gwendolyn - I was going to give it to her personally, but since the bakeryâs very busy today, I thought Iâd leave it here instead.â
âItâs very beautiful.â remarked Adissa, but Seraphina scolded her.
âI donât trust you one bit!â she cried, returning her attention to him. âEither you get out of here, or Iâll kick you out myself!â
Just then Gwendolyn appeared, announcing that they were running out of brownies, when she saw the commotion before her, and as she caught the manâs eyes, her face began to turn red.
âAnonai,â she whispered, to which he bowed politely. âWh-What brings you here?â
He smiled. âJust wanted to wish you a happy birthday.â
âLies!â cried Seraphina. âHe is a thief, he was going to break into the bakery and steal everything â I know a thief when I see one!â
âHe has a pretty flower for you,â sang Adissa. âJust like the ones in Saventhia!â
Gwendolyn stammered, unsure of what to say as her face became more red by the second, all while Anonai chuckled to himself, very amused with what was happening.
âI think I left quite an impression on these lovely ladies.â he laughed, and Adissa giggled at his compliment.
âDonât mind them, Anonai,â said Gwendolyn as she walked over to him. âMy aunts mean no harm, theyâre just protective of me, thatâs all.â
âI see,â he said. âYou are very lucky to have them.â
Gwendolyn smiled. âI am.â
âWell,â he continued, and handed her the flower. âI really just wanted to give you this - thought you might like it.â
âI do,â she said, carefully admiring it. âItâs very beautiful, thank you.â
Anonai smiled, and with that he bid her and her aunts farewell, and left the bakery. Gwendolyn still stared at her flower, slowly brushing its petals with much care, as she made her way back to the front of the bakery.
âI still donât trust him,â remarked Seraphina, following her niece. âBe very careful of him, Gwen dear!â
âI like him,â Adissa sighed. âHeâs very nice, and handsome too.â
âYou think everyoneâs nice.â Seraphina grumbled to her sister.
But Gwendolynâs mind was elsewhere, as she searched for a small vase for her flower.
His innards are just lava, aside from his âheartâ which is an enchanted piece of lava rock that magically holds him together and keeps him alive. His skin is like cooled lava, but the warmth of the lava inside him glows through cracks
Can break the outer layer of rock apart and generate more lava
It doesnât burn to touch him as long as the layer of rock is covering him, but he is very warm
Around the size of a Volkswagen Beetle but can make himself bigger if he wants to. He canât make himself smaller without removing a limb - but he can always grow it back if he wants to. Often has some cooled rock piled up on his left shoulder.
As long as his heart is fine and intact, he can always rebuild himself
Has horns, obsidian teeth and claws, and glowy orange/red eyes
He doesnât know where he came from and hasnât met any other lava monsters
For several decades, Aval is asleep in a volcano. He wakes up at the same time the volcano erupts. Itâs unclear if his waking up caused the eruption or if the eruption caused him to wake up.
Not a lot of thoughts in his head. He likes to destroy things. Regularly kills creatures that pass his volcano
Easily frustrated and has a quick temper
Very loyal once he decides he likes someone
Hasnât seen much of the world beyond his volcano
Aval meets Halili (Maxâs storm princess) when she is wreaking havoc with a storm and he is wreaking havoc with an eruption. They argue and fight for a while and then Aval gets butthurt and goes to hide in his lava cave
Halili eventually approaches where he lives because sheâs bored. Enemies to lovers arc ensues. Halili shows Aval more of the world beyond his volcano
Cold water makes him feel very ill and can potentially kill him
Full title: Her Royal Highness Princess Zulaea of Thavenor
pronounced: zoo-lay-uh
she/her
Elf
5â7â, silvery kaleidoscope-y eyes, straight copper hair thatâs long and thick, long pointed elf ears, tiny tooth gap
Has a valley girl accent with vocal fry, also has a slight lisp where her âsâ becomes âshâ
Grew up in a small kingdom called Thavenor in a large valley between mountains. The population is primarily elves
Her mother, Othwen, had a very difficult pregnancy with Zulaea. Zu ended up being born prematurely and a rough first few weeks of life
A few years after she was born, it was prophesied that Zulaea would be taken by a dragon. As a result of this prophecy and the difficult pregnancy, her parents ended up being super protective
Zulaea couldnât go anywhere without the accompaniment of armed guards and she was never permitted to leave the castle grounds. She got pretty good at escaping her guards, but the escape was always short-lived.Â
Her parents felt bad about how sheltered they felt Zulaea had to be for her own protection, and would give her anything she wanted (aside from leaving the castle grounds and going anywhere without armed guards). She grew very accustomed to getting anything she asked for and was very spoiled
Her two sisters and older brother are significantly older than she is, and she never got along with any of them. Her younger brother is closer in age but he was given a lot more freedom and Zulaea resented him for it
Any court lady that was introduced to Zulaea would eventually leave because she had no idea how to make friends and hated her parents trying to force her to have friends
Servants lived in fear of Zulaea and generally tried to avoid her. The only consistent and friendly figure in her life was her nursemaid/governess/whatever you want to call her. Her name is Pedweg and sheâs maybe the only person Zulaea would mourn if something happened to her
Pedweg fostered Zulaeaâs love of reading. She would read to Zulaea often when she was growing up. As Zulaea got older, she started stealing Pedwegâs novels for âadultsâ â basically a lot of erotica romancesÂ
Zulaea also learned archery and is very good at it. Also likes to paint and do crafts
Terribleâ˘, bossy and demanding, doesnât consider anyone else ever, very selfish, vain, entitled, low self-preservation skills, isnât afraid of anything even when she should be, can be quite clever when it comes to manipulating people and situations but is often a ditz, materialisticÂ
Eventually the prophecy comes true and Zulaea is taken by a dragon (A2âs oc Dromme) but rather than get killed by the dragon as her parents assumed, Zulaea becomes his mate
Sheâs much happier with Dromme than she ever was at home but they are both terrible

At the mouth of a cave tucked between the rocks of a tropical mountain, a traveler with bronzed skin and bright eyes squints up at the midday sun. They close their eyes, basking in the sticky warmth for a few more seconds, before they turn and step heedlessly into the cave. If theyâve heard the stories about the jungle, about the mysterious werecreatures that prowl around at night, about cracks in the earth where creatures from the Underdark slip through, they pay the stories no mind. Adjusting their pack, they wander farther into the cave, their slit pupils adjusting to the darkness. They pass carelessly over wisps of spiderwebs, their boots plucking the webs like strings.
The vibration of their steps ricochets over a maze of sticky spiderwebs. Deep within the cave, below the earth where no natural light touches, a drider stills, focusing on the movement in her webs. A thin smile passes over her purple-hued lips, and she scuttles across the expertly crafted webs toward one of the many entrances of her vast cavern, deftly avoiding stalactites and stalagmites. A handful of bats shriek in protest as she passes them, disturbing their rest, but she ignores them. She pauses, tracking the traveler thatâs entered her lair. Their steps are more careful now, avoiding the sticky webs as much as they can, but they continue to press forward.
The drider meets the traveler where any remnants of natural light are swallowed by the unforgiving darkness of the Underdark. She titters to herself, her fangs sharp beneath her smile, and the travelerâs eyes land on her. They seem unbothered by the dark, able to find the drider in the inky blackness without having to strain their eyes. They return the driderâs grin.
âShriq!â they say. âItâs been a while.â
Shriq, the drider, clings to her web and leans toward the traveler. âYouâve brought me what I want?â she asks, her voice raspy and hissing.
The traveler laughs and pulls off their pack. âAlways straight to the point with you.â
Shriq holds her hands together, her milky eyes watching the traveler eagerly as they reach into their pack. Sheâs waited months for this, alone in the dark, wondering when Kay would return.
âHere you go,â Kay says, pulling out a large and carefully wrapped bundle. âThe finest dyes a pirate can get.â
Shriq gently unwraps the bundle. Inside are materials to make her own dye, things that are hard to come by in the Underdark. She lets out a delighted hiss.
âThank you, Kay,â she chitters, rewrapping them bundle. Deftly, she weaves a small pack from her silk, in which she places the dye materials. Strapping the newly made bag to her back, she again turns her attention to the traveler.
âWould you like to stay for lunch? Iâm sure youâre hungry after your journey,â she says.
âSure,â Kay shrugs. âAs long as weâre not eating anything humanoid.â
Shriq laughs, though it sounds more like a series of hissing. âSo picky,â she says. With inhuman strength, she lifts the traveler onto the back of her abdomen, then scuttles once more into the depths of her cave.
I haven't written anything about my siren OC Irene, nor have I posted anything here, so I thought I'd change that :)
Siren
From Saventhia
Doesnât have a really good moral compass
Came to UF centuries ago bc she fell in love with a human; bargained with Sana (my sea witch OC) to make her turn into a human; didnât have to give up her voice, so that was a plus for her
When she finally found him, she discovered that he was actually in a committed relationship with someone else; Irene was so furious at her ex-lover that she drove him and his lover insane by using her singing magic; she managed to get away with it
Went by many stage names over the years, recently changed to âSyreneâ
Started off her career solely in the supernatural community, then by the late 80s/early 90s, she began to expand her career to include humans; definitely used her singing magic to sway humans to like her music; performed in vaudevilles, radio shows, bars, lounges, nightclubs, etc.
Opposable thumbs werenât giving Josie any advantage as he tried to free himself from the fishing net that was tangled around his ankle. This wasnât his first wrestling match against such a contraption; heâd freed plenty of whales and turtles from the tools of fishermen. But he was losing this particular match. As he picked at the woven rope with his clawed fingers, the net seemed only to get more tangled and knotted, tightening and chafing the scales on his calves.
âArrghh!â Josie let out a frustrated growl. In his aggravation, he attempted to chuck the part of the net that was grasped in his hands as far as he could. Still attached to his leg, the net hit the wet sand with an unsatisfying plop.
For a moment, he sat quietly, his hands resting on the beach between his bent legs, his finned brows furrowed into a frown. Then, he kicked his legs in a mini tantrum, before again trying to pick at the knots.
âStupid...fishing...stupid fisherman...Iâll eat the next fisherman I see! Maybe...tie them...in a net, then...eat them. See how they like it,â Josie muttered between grunts as he again tugged at the rope.
His attempts were futile. Snarling, he grabbed his foot and pulled his ankle to his mouth, contorting his body. Sand clung to his scaly skin, but he didnât seem to notice. With sharp teeth, he gnawed on the net. The rope began to fray and thin. Josie gripped the remaining net in his teeth and lurched his head back. The threads snapped, and his leg was freed from the fishing net.
âHa!â Josie said triumphantly. He leapt to his feet, leaving the torn net in a heap on the sand. âStupid net canât beat me!â
