This is extra hilarious as I literally just spewed four mildly salty-tagged one direction-related posts, but I appreciate the appreciation, you KNOW I'll mix in some fun, I just want to say hell yeahhhhhhh, let's hear it for you taking control over your fandom experience and just boppin' in when you need to bop in. When I do a quick lurk on a terrible blog (you know the type, run by people who are bored because they haven't cultivated any other interests, so they just stir the shit all day long, hand-wringing, dumping on women, spreading a bunch of anxiety-provoking bile, then wondering why fandom isn't "fun" anymore), I still feel bad for the inevitable anon who is clearly sucking on that hosepipe all day long and is actually asking the person who's putting it on their dash for help in how to make it stop. Baby, the call is coming from inside the house, unfolloooww, I can point you to a handful of stress-free blogs that'll give you that joy you seek, the fic/fanart you want, the lack of drama, the misogyny-free view so you can still feel involved, but you won't have that weird stranger-induced anxiety, and it's okay to be curious, to be human, you can always pop back in for five minutes, see what you need to see, and bop out, thanking Christ it isn't dragging you down day in and day out. There's nothing wrong with being nosy as fuck--I'm chief of that club!!--and only following what you want to see every day, there's something right about taking that control back so it doesn't hit you in the face when you're just trying to have some fun and see some pretty pictures. There's such a weirdness in making people cling to something they don't want to see or making you feel bad if you don't. I love your peeping/dodging analogy, and I love you. Proud of you for making that shift!
