i think my blonde man torment nexus isn't working because i've been trying to use it on this one particular character lately but every time the situations are so boring i fall asleep and then whenever this happens i have like a really vivid technicolor dream of him being like. lost at walmart or some shit. and then last night i actually got something good but apparently i pavloved myself into falling asleep whenever i think about him and this time i didn't even have a dream. i was on some good shit and my subconcious couldn't even make it a nice movie for me? i get a movie about him being lost in the walmart parking lot but not this?

i normally don't mind the newspaper but i really don't like how much it's been glazing up mormons lately. this is a liberal newspaper do you really feel the need to publish someone explicitly saying that it's a sin to be gay? i don't really care if it's a book excerpt maybe you should choose better books to excerpt
i'll be honest when larper started being used as something of a synonym for poser it always sort of made sense to me and maybe it's just because most of the things my friends 'larp' are things that they have some vague sense of involvement in and not just things they say they like for clout or smth.
TL;DR i think that our modern use of larp still implies an interest in the subject at hand and its current meaning takes more from actual larping than is immediately obvious
or maybe i'm crazy and just have a different set of experiences with the word who knows
consider the humble larper. though they may be doing a great imitation of a wizard or barbarian, and having a great time, they ultimately cannot wield a battleaxe or throw fireball in real life.
all of the larper/poser instances i've seen used in my current life have some similarities to this.
one of my friends calls herself a 'deltarune larper.' she loves to hear us talk about the game, seems genuinely interested in the lore, has played some of the minigames on a friend's console and has even played a fangame of it. me and her once painted lore accurate caked up tenna together for a friend's birthday. she is interested in deltarune the way the noble larper is interested in, say, swordplay. just as the average larper most likely doesn't have the means or perhaps even interest to develop swordfighting skills outside of doing fake scenarios with friends, my friend doesn't actually play deltarune because she's super busy and because i don't think she plays many video games at all.

i sometimes joke that i am a 'christianity larper.' i do a lot of the actions; i pray a lot if i could really use a favour and though i don't go to church often, when I do, i enjoy it. do i believe in god? not really. do i participate in the christian community in my town? not at all. i haven't even read the whole bible. though I am going through the actions of religion, I can't really be considered a christian or anything else (and thank goodness for that)

as well, online i see more people calling themselves larpers than other people. it's used as a more self-deprecatory thing than anything, whereas poser is used as an insult. people call themselves larpers when they participate in something but don't consider themselves a 'real fan' because of how/how much they like something, as real larpers, for instance, play wizards but don't consider themselves 'real wizards' because of the whole magic isn't real thing. which is probably because of how hardcore fans of things can get when fans don't, for example, listen to more than an artist's most popular albums. people call themselves larpers before other people can call them posers if you know what i mean.
what self-conscious fans and real larpers have in common is that they do something but not for 'real.' are you really not a fan of that game because you've never played it, even though you've watched all the playthroughs and enjoy consuming content in relation to it? with the prevalence of fan-content on the rise people can get a grasp on media and enjoy the experience even if they're not able to see/play/hear it for themselves. there are different ways to be a fan and different levels of fandom and it's hard to decry one as any worse than the other. if bob from IT can be a druid in his free time without casting a spell, i can be an mcr fan while only really listening to the most popular songs. am i really a poser if i like them enough to see them live?
i think i lost the plot here but yeah i think our modern day use of larper is not quite the same as poser and has a lot more thematic similarities to real larping than people think
