old gothmenti scetch
there is one thing that really buggs me when it comes to writing sarmenti as a s/a survivor. don't get me wrong, it's a very grounded headcanon that has been hinted at by the canon many times and I def share it but there is an aspect of it we should do better in
Sarmenti wasn't assaulted because he was 'pretty' or because he was 'effeminate' but because he was vulnerable enough. and the reason he was is he had no family, friends, social status to protect himself from it. he is an ethnic minority, heavily queer man of impoverished background. as expected, richer and more privileged men take advantage of it
this notion is very important because if we put the emphasis on sarmenti being beautiful in these scenarios, we almost redeem the violence committed against him. as in, all beautiful gay men are doomed to having abuse as their main source of intimacy (which is very, very bad i think). s/a victims don't have to be 'pretty' to be assaulted but they must lack internal and external protection
the same naturally goes for all other characters that are implied s/a victims, but i really think we have some kind of 'all LGBT people must suffer' with sarmenti in particular
