“Months ago, I decided to quit my meds, a choice I keep returning to as my pendulum swings away from pharmaceuticals and toward self-reliance. The highs and lows came back, but so did the joy when playing gigs. I feel euphoric, excited to create again. And I’m grateful for that, even if life feels like survival mode now.”
How has the changing political landscape the last 12 months impacted you personally?
“This year, I promised myself I’d leave my gentrified hometown—the city that raised me. The last squats have been cleared out; I’m poor and exhausted by how hostile life has become here. Every time I take the metro, I picture my lifeless body on the rails. I feel this city will end me, and so many others.”
If your track were another great work of art, what would it be & why?
“If my track would be a book that would be the Ladies Almanack by Djuna Barnes. And I'm glad my favourite ladies helped my write it, because only united we're strong. This a track for the lesbian body.”
