And one of the best wintery pastimes for any #bookworm is to snuggle up and read. For me, #darkromance pairs beautifully with cocoa, so I'm dedicating this post to one of my favorites: #ThePhantomoftheOpera. 🖤 🥀 🎵 When I first read #GastonLeroux's masterpiece years ago, I was so enamored of his love story fraught with horror and tragedy, that I researched to see what inspired the author. I recorded all the fascinating details in a spiral. Once my #writing career took off, those findings resurfaced and #RoseBlood was born. If any of you plan to read (or have read) my spinoff, check out my author's note to learn more about the facts I wove-in along with their origins. 🖤 🥀 🎵 For other Phantom-ly reads, the second image has a few #bookrecommendations. #Phantom, by #SusanKay, focuses on the "untold" life-story of the fictional phantom. #SaraFine's #OfMetalandWishes is a gritty steampunk retelling of the original tale, and #WhereDreamsDescend by @janella_angeles is pitched as “Moulin Rouge meets Phantom of the Opera with a dash of The Night Circus”. The other two titles have things in common with RoseBlood: both are modern retellings with teens spearheading the action; @kelly_creagh's #PhantomHeart shares a gothic, haunted tone + a nod to Victorian aesthetics, and Phantom by #LauraDeLuca unfolds as a thriller/mystery centered around a high-school production. 🖤 🥀 🎵 Have you read any of these titles?
