it’s crazy how I came about reading the Ruby Red trilogy 😂 I was in the 6th grade, it was towards the end of the year and I saw this beautiful girl in this beautiful emerald green dress on the cover of this book. I was so captivated by her I took the book from its “new book stand” in my school library to check it out. my librarian smiled at me and went, “now, I normally wouldn’t let you check this book out as it’s more young adult genre, and you read so much that I’ll let you check it out. I want you to tell me how the book is and if it’s worth ordering the other two.” I was so excited I nodded my head and quickly checked it out.
OMG I was SO confused, but god damn did I EAT UP emerald green. as soon as I finished the book I turned it in and told my librarian, “I absolutely loved it, but I was confused because it turns out this is the third book, but please please order the other two.” well, sad thing is, I moved from that school before I could see if she order Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue, BUT the next school I moved to had BOTH OF THEM.
Well I say both of them, they actually only had sapphire blue when I first enrolled and then added ruby red to their inventory midway through the year, so the order of how I read the trilogy was: emerald green, sapphire blue, and THEN ruby red 😂 so then I had to completely reread the series from start to finish to understand everything in order.
I then made this trilogy my ENTIRE personality in junior high. I was constantly reading it, I even bought my own copies of the trilogy once I got my first job.
